The invention is directed to a method of stabilizing metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieves and catalysts derived therefrom. In particular, the invention is directed to a method of treating such molecular sieves with chemisorbed ammonia, which may be easily desorbed before or during use and after storage. The invention is also directed to formulating the molecular sieve into a catalyst useful in a process for producing olefin(s), preferably ethylene and/or propylene, from a feedstock, preferably an oxygenate containing feedstock.

Stabilization of acid catalysts

The invention is directed to a method for modifying a microporous metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieve, the method comprising the steps of a) introducing a compound containing at least one M-X group within the cages of said microporous molecular sieve; and b) reacting said compound containing at least one M-X group with the acid groups located in the cages of the molecular sieve, wherein the compound containing at least one M-X group is selected from the group consisting of compounds of formula MX, compounds of formula MX, and mixtures thereof, M being a metal belonging to Group 13 of the Periodic Table, and each X independently being a hydrogen or halogen atom. Preferably, X is a hydrogen atom. The present invention also relates to modified metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieves, preferably modified silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieves, as well as to the use of these modified molecular sieves in catalytic processes, such as processes for the conversion of oxygenated hydrocarbon feedstocks.

Modified metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieves

The invention is directed to a method of stabilizing metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieves and catalysts derived therefrom. In particular, the invention is directed to a method of treating such molecular sieves with one or more nitrogen containing compounds having a kinetic diameter greater than the average pore size of the activated molecular sieve and selected from the group consisting of amines, monocyclic heterocyclic compounds, organonitrile compounds and mixtures thereof to chemisorbed and/or physisorbed the compound onto the molecular sieve. The compounds may be easily desorbed before or during use and after storage. The invention is also directed to formulating the molecular sieve into a catalyst useful in a process for producing olefin(s), preferably ethylene and/or propylene, from a feedstock, preferably an oxygenate containing feedstock.

Treatment of acid catalysts

The invention is directed to a method of stabilizing metalloaluminophosphate molecular sieves and catalysts derived therefrom. The invention relates to a process for modifying a molecular sieve, whereby the molecular sieve is brought into contact with a modifying agent containing at least one weak acid, a salt of a weak acid or a derivative of a weak acid of at least one element of Groups III, IV or V of the Periodic Table of Elements, by dry mixing the molecular sieve and the modifying agent, optionally followed by adding liquid to form a slurry or paste, whereafter the resulting mixture is subjected to a thermal treatment.

Process for modification of a molecular sieve

The invention relates to a process for the separation of at least one gas from a mixture containing at least two gases, which process comprises contacting a pore containing molecular sieve with the mixture of gaseous components, selectively adsorbing at least one component of the mixture in the pores of the molecular sieve, separating the molecular sieve from the non-adsorbed component or components and optionally desorbing the adsorbed component or components, the molecular sieve having been modified with a modifying agent containing at least one weak acid, a salt of a weak acid, or a derivative of a weak acid of at least one element of the Groups III, IV and V of the Periodic Table of Elements.

Gas separation

A process for separating sulfur-containing compounds other than mercaptans from gaseous streams. A gaseous stream including mercaptans and other sulfur-containing compounds is brought into contact with a solid supporting material coated with a thin layer of an amine-containing active agent capable of selectively adsorbing the sulfur-containing compounds other than mercaptans. This process permits the monitoring of mercaptans in gaseous streams without interference from other sulfur-containing compounds, as well as the purification of mercaptans.

Process for selective adsorption of sulfur compounds from gaseous

The invention concerns a process for ultra-drying of a gas or gas mixture by bringing this into contact with a silicate containing material. In order to obtain a residual water level of 5 ppb or less, the invention is characterized in that the gas or gas mixture is brought into contact with a silcate containing material, preferably a zeolite or silicagel, that has been modified with silane, borane, and/or the alkyl and/or halogen substituted compounds thereof. The invention is further concerned with the separation of tritium oxide from gas mixtures preferably with water.

Process for ultradrying of a gas

The invention concerns a method and a device for purifying a gas containing hydrogen isotopes, and for recovering the different isotopes, in particular for treating a gas coming from a thermonuclear fusion reactor. According to the invention, the gas is firstly dried in a water and CO.sub.2 adsorption stage (2), the dried gas then passes through a stage (3) in which a selective adsorption of sulphur compounds takes place and finally, the gas leaving this stage, which still contains at least some of the compounds (H,D,T).sub.2, N.sub.2, O.sub.2, CO, C(H,D,T).sub.4, is processed in a hydrogen adsorption/separation stage (4) of the zeolite type.

Method and a device for purifying a gas containing hydrogen isotopes

A porous solid such as a zeolite of clay can be degassed to make it suitable as an adsorbent, after which the entrances of the pores are narrowed to a desired size by treating the porous solid with two chemisorbable materials, one of which is diborane. The treatment may be repeated. The purpose of the first such treatment is to make the pore entrances so narrow, that unduly large molecules cannot enter and the smaller ones can, while a later treatment may serve to narrow the pores still further, so that the adsorbed molecules cannot escape.

Method for a controlled change of the pore size in solids

A clay material of the polygorskite group, pretreated or not, is degassed and contacted with a gas to be adsorbed and after adsorption the clay is heated while in contact with the gas so that the clay structure collapses, encapsulating the adsorbed gas. If desired the entrances of the pores may be narrowed to a desired size by adsorption of diborane before the adsorption of the gas.

Method of encapsulating gases, vapors, complexes and ions in solids

The present invention relates to compounds, elements or ions encapsulated in a zeolite in a stable manner by adsorption, chemisorption or ion exchange, by using a zeolite treated before together with, or after the introduction of the material to be enclosed with a modifying agent selected from the group consisting of silanes, boranes and germanes, which may be substituted by one or more halogen atoms and/or hydrocarbon groups, and after the introduction closing the pores by a further treatment with the modifying agent and/or by an oxidation treatment.
