Presented are systems and methods for transmission of preamble and payload messages in random access procedures. A wireless communication device may transmit, in a random access (RA) procedure, a RA preamble and a corresponding uplink channel payload to a wireless communication node. The wireless communication device may retransmit, to the wireless communication node, the corresponding uplink channel payload through an uplink grant, responsive to a failure of the transmitted uplink channel payload for the wireless communication node.

This disclosure relates to wireless communication methods that utilize and enable the communication of an indication of a listen-before-talk (LBT) mode from a wireless access node to a mobile station.

Listen-before-talk mode indication for wireless communication

User equipment may request to communicate with a basestation over a contention-based wireless communication channel. The basestation and the user equipment may perform a multiple-step random access protocol to determine whether the user equipment may communicate over the wireless communication channel. The architecture, e.g., the fields and structure of the messages sent by the basestation may indicate the content and type of those same messages.

Methods and a wireless communication device for carrying out beam failure recovery include, according to various implementations, using a beam failure recovery request media access control-control element (BFRR MAC CE) to transfer beam failure recovery information (e.g., from one node of a wireless network to another&#x2014;such as from a mobile wireless communication device to a base station (BS)). The BFRR MAC CE may include one or more of: the reference signal (RS) type (i.e., the type of RS resource), the identity of the RS resource, the identity of a frequency location (e.g., the identity of a bandwidth part in cases where bandwidth part (BWP) is used), and the identity of the serving cell.

Methods and wireless communication device for carrying out beam failure recovery

A method for carrying out data integrity protection on a communication network. According to an implementation, a wireless communication device indicates, to a wireless network, the maximum data rate up to which integrity protection is supported for user plane data. A network node (e.g., a node of the core network, such as an SMF) receives this information and determines whether or not to enable integrity protection for user plane data based on the information (possibly in conjunction with other information such as the minimum data rate to be supported, etc.). The network node then communicates the decision to enable or disable integrity protection to a RAN node (e.g., a wireless base station).
