Additional computer-implemented methods can include performing a numerical simulation of a solid material using a numerical simulation mesh comprising a plurality of nodes, wherein the numerical simulation includes a transition threshold associated with a cohesive zone model traction-separation relation, and comparing local material states including a strain state of the mesh to the transition threshold during the performing the numerical simulation to determine whether to dynamically insert cohesive elements in the finite element mesh.

Libraries-based explicit fracture and fragmentation framework

Systems and methods for modeling substance characteristics

Computer implemented methods include providing a numerical simulation solid mesh comprising a plurality of solid nodes and a numerical simulation fluid mesh comprising a plurality of fluid nodes, and performing a numerical simulation with the solid mesh and fluid mesh including: determining a fluid-solid interaction between the fluid mesh and the solid mesh at a time step by (i) immersing boundaries of the solid and fluid meshes, (ii) computing current corrected fluid and solid velocities using an interaction parameter applied to an intermediate fluid-solid relative velocity, and (iii) computing a fluid-solid interaction force based on the current corrected fluid and solid velocities.

Fluid-structure interaction solver for transient dynamics of fracturing media

An integrated solver may be used for both a fluid phase and a solid phase. The integrated solver may use constitutive equations for the fluid phase and the solid phase, and calculate the stress in the fluid and solid using the same integration point. The integrated solver may also calculate other state variables using the same integration point.
