Deflection apparatus for a conveying system

A drive has a drive unit, wherein the drive unit includes a central body, a drive means, and a driven means circulating around the central body. Conveyor means or objects to be conveyed are able to be conveyed in a driven section of the drive unit along a conveyor path by way of the driven means. The driven means is mounted with respect to the central body by means of a roller body which circulates around the central body in an orbital track. To this end, the driven means rolls on the central body via rollers of the roller body and thereby the roller body transmits radial pressure forces to the central body. The driven means is driven directly by the drive means. The roller body itself is not driven directly by the drive means, but rather it is moved along solely by the rolling of the driven means on the roller body.

Drive for conveyor means or conveyed objects

A deflection apparatus for a conveying system has a central body with a roller body which circulates around the central body, wherein the roller body has a multiplicity of rollers which are guided with play and roll in a roller track of the central body wherein the deflection apparatus forms an independent structural unit which can be assembled, dismantled and transported as a unit, and thus can be installed as an independent structural unit in order to deflect a conveying means in a conveying system. The deflection apparatus is preferably configured in a lightweight design, having rollers made from plastic and the central body made from plastic or aluminum.

A conveying device () according to the invention includes several conveying bodies (), which roll on a guidance () via several rolls (), wherein the rolls () are connected and mutually distanced by means of a flexible connecting body () The conveying bodies () include means () for mutual support, which prevent a movement of the conveying bodies () out of the guidance (). A connecting body () and allocated rolls () form a roll body (), wherein the roll body (), on average, includes two or less than two rolls () per conveying body (). A roll body () for a conveying device () includes a plurality of rolls () mutually connected in a linear manner, wherein the rolls () are mutually connected and distanced by means of a flexible and in particular also elastic connecting body (). In a preferred embodiment, the connecting body () may be bent in at least two directions.

Conveying device, rolling body and conveying body

For supplying individual quantities of flat and in particular diverse part products to a serial further processing, the part products are arranged in a row of part product groups () in a preparatory step carried out before the supply step (e.g. supplementation), and the row () is fashioned into a 'first-in-last-out' storage formation, such as a roll (). Within the row () the part products or the part product groups () overlap or are spaced from each other. For stabilizing the part product groups (), adhesion between the part products within the groups may be enhanced; for stabilizing the storage formation, the part product groups () may be reversibly connected to each other. For supplying the groups to the serial further processing, which may succeed the preparatory step at any time or place, the storage formation is dissolved and the part product groups are supplied to the further processing directly from the storage formation. The preparatory step is completely uncoupled from the supply step, which simplifies the method and the installation for both, the supply and the further processing.

Method and device for feeding a number of flat subproducts to a serial subsequent processing

The processing conveyer device () has a plurality of receiving elements () that are arranged one behind the other and are driven in a circulatory direction, said elements having a support element and a base element for supporting the printing products laterally and from below, in addition to a saddle-type bearing element for receiving folded printing products astride said element. Feed stations () are arranged along the circulatory track () of the receiving elements (). A respective opening device, which can be activated and deactivated, is allocated to said feed stations, for selectively opening the folded printing products () that are to be fed by the receiving elements. The feed stations () can selectively introduce printing products () into the receiving elements () or can place folded printing products (), which have been opened, astride the bearing element. A respective removal station (') is located between the two groups of feed stations (), whereby at least one of said stations can be deactivated. The device can be used in a wide variety of applications for producing various finished products.

Apparatus for processing printed products

A device for holding printed products fed in variations of at least collecting and collating feed modes. The device includes a holding element for holding products fed in different feed modes. The holding element, in turn, includes a deflection element which, in a printed product transfer region, is effective to deflect printed products being fed away from those already fed to the holding element.

Holding elements () equipped for transporting individual articles () in a held manner and being movable along a stretch of rail () independently of one another at least to a limited extent and having in pushed operation a regular minimum distance between one another, are banked-up during transportation at a banking-up point by a banking-up device () to form an accumulation store () upstream of the banking-up point. The holding elements are released in groups from the accumulation store () in a controlled manner and are conveyed away from the accumulation store. The holding elements () in the groups () advantageously are spaced the minimum distance from one another. For pre-forming the groups to be released () there is a further banking-up device () provided in the accumulation store (). The further banking-up device acts at a further banking-up point upstream of the first banking-up point. The stream of groups being conveyed away from the accumulation store () can be supplied without any further transformation steps to a unit, in which the groups of articles held by holding elements () are processed (e.g. stacked and packed).

Method and device for the suspended transport of objects on a transport track comprising an accumulated store

Flat objects ( ) to be stacked in a stacking device ( ) are supplied serially, individually held and aligned with one another. Cross stacks ( ) are produced by subjecting alternating groups ( &prime;) of the supplied objects ( ) to one of two step sequences, wherein, in both step sequences, the objects of the groups are released from held conveyance and are, in at least one of the step sequences, brought to the stacking device lying on a conveying surface ( &prime;) in an imbricated formation. In the two step sequences, a rotation difference of 180&deg; around an axis perpendicular to the object surfaces is established between alternating groups ( &prime;). The objects ( ) positioned in the stacking device in groups form a cross stack ( ), without requiring the stacking device ( ) or parts thereof to be rotated between groups of objects being positioned. This results in shorter cycle times and in a smaller number of moving parts. The stacking system is suitable in particular for producing cross stacks ( ) made up of rectangular or square, folded printed products.

Method and arrangement for the production of crossed stacks

For sequentially strapping stacks of printed products ( ) with a strapping tape ( ), stacks are conveyed to a strapping position pressed together between two presser arms ( and ) and are there strapped in a pressed-together condition. A loop of the strapping tape ( ) positioned around the stack ( ) is tightened, locked and cut-off from a supply roll. In doing so, the tape loop is applied in a zone of the stack face sides outside the presser arms ( and ) and aligned with slot-shaped apertures ( ) in the presser arms ( and ) such that the strapping tape ( ), when it is being tightened, is moved through the apertures ( ) and comes to lie directly on the face sides of the stack. The strapping is advantageous to strap stacks ( ), which have either been previously, or are being simultaneously, enveloped with an enveloping material ( ), whereby the envelope is applied around the stack ( ) and the presser arms ( and ), and the strapping is applied outside of the envelope.

Method and device for the strapping of stacks of printed products

An apparatus has pocket-like receiving parts into which printed products are introduced by feeders. Each receiving part is assigned clamps that can be moved to transport the printed products in the longitudinal direction of the receiving part. The movement path of the clamps runs along the opening of the receiving part, and the clamps retain the printed products at their border region remote from the base of the receiving part.

A process and apparatus for combining printed products of a plurality of types to form sets having products of each type. The first type of products are arranged in an imbricated formation in which they overlap one another in a first conveying direction and the edges run obliquely with respect to the first conveying direction. Products of another type are then deposited on the first products successively with the same alignment. Subsequent types of products may be similarly assembled to form the set of products. The formed sets having one of each type of products are then separated and conveyed in a further conveying direction which is angularly displaced from the first conveying direction.

Process and apparatus for combining printed products

An apparatus for trimming multiple-sheet, folded printed products utilizing two processing drums adjacently arranged. The drums are each rotated about a horizontal axis by a drive mechanism. Each processing drum comprises radial compartments for receiving the printed products to be trimmed. Arranged on each end side of the first processing drum are two stationary cutting elements, one of which is in the operative position. The cutting element interacts with cutting elements which are fastened on the end side of the compartments on the compartment walls. In the first processing drum, the printed products are trimmed on their side borders running at right angles to the folding edge. Arranged on the circumferential edge of the second processing drum are stationary cutting elements with a cutting element in an operative position to interact with cutting elements which are assigned to the individual compartments and are arranged circumferentially in the compartments. The trimming of the open side edge, located opposite the folding edge of the printed products, takes place in the second processing drum. The transfer of the printed products which have been trimmed in the first drum to the second processing drum takes place by means of a conveying arrangement which comprises grippers arranged at regular intervals on a circulating drawing member.

Apparatus for trimming printed products on at least two borders

Printed products are fed, from feeding sections, to the processing drum and deposited in a straddling manner on the wall elements or on printed products which have already been deposited thereon. As the processing drum revolves, the printed products are passed onto a circulating conveyor to carry out processing steps on the printed products or to add additional printed products or inserts. The printed products are then fed to the other feeding sections of the processing drum, where additional printed products are added. A removal conveyor for receiving and transporting the finished products away is located at the removal section of the processing drum.
