A grinding machine and a method for grinding large crankshafts are disclosed. During pre-grinding, steady-rest seats are ground, and a plurality of steady rests are placed against them. Synchronous electric drives drive the crankshaft at both ends. A desired shape is produced by interpolating motion of a first grinding disk about CNC-controlled X and Z axes and about a WK pivot axis. The grinding disk is a CBN grinding disk with a width less than the axial length of the main journals and crankpins of the crankshaft. Diameters are measured along the axial length of the main journals and/or crankpins by an in-process device. The drives for the X1, Z1, and WK axes are controlled in an interpolating manner on the basis of the measurements to achieve the desired shape.

Method and device for grinding large crankshafts

A method and a cylindrical grinding machine for centerless cylindrical grinding of a workpiece. The workpiece is supported on a first contact surface and a second contact surface arranged at an angle relative to one another. A grinding disk is applied to the workpiece with an application force, whereby the workpiece is in turn pressed against the first and second contact surfaces, which cause braking of the workpiece (which is rotationally driven solely by the grinding disk). The braking reduces the rotational speed of the workpiece such that the grinding disk produces grinding in addition to rotationally driving the workpiece. The rotational speed of the workpiece can be precisely set by means of an additional brake that applies an adjustable braking force to the workpiece.

A grinding machine and a method for measuring and producing a target outer contour is disclosed, particularly for a pin-bearing journal of a crankshaft. First, a measurement device acquires measurement values for the dimensions and shape of a workpiece in at least two measurement planes that are spaced apart and extend transversely to a longitudinal extension of a workpiece region. The measurement planes are produced by a relative movement of the workpiece region and the measurement device in a Z axis direction, relative to the movement of a grinding disc in the direction of the Z-axis thereof. These measurement values are transmitted to a CNC system for advancing a grinding disc, such that any deviations from the target contour that may be present are corrected, and the target contour of the workpiece region in question is ground adaptively on the basis of the measurement values.

A system and method for grinding the exterior of a shaft part with rotationally symmetrical sections and bases which have centering bores and which define a reference longitudinal axis and rotational axis of the shaft part. The shaft part is held between tips which engage into the centering bores during the grinding process using a grinding disk, and the shaft part is additionally supported on the rotationally symmetrical sections by means of a support device. The current diameter values of the rotationally symmetrical sections are measured and transmitted to a controller, by means of which the support device is updated with respect to the measured diameter values while continuously supporting the rotationally symmetrical sections until target dimensions are achieved.

The housing of a grinding spindle unit is pivotably mounted by way of a pivot axle on the receiving part of a grinding machine, e.g., on a grinding headstock. The grinding spindle unit bears a grinding wheel which is driven in rotation. The actuation of an adjusting unit extends a pressure pin, which pivots the housing of the grinding spindle unit about the pivot axle and thus slants the grinding wheel. The pivot axle is in this case formed as a film hinge through a zone of targeted elastic material deformation. A tensile spring device brings about constant contact between the pressure pin and the receiving part.

A grinding machine for machining workpieces includes a workpiece headstock and two grinding headstocks. A first grinding headstock has two grinding spindles each with one grinding wheel for grinding first and second planar and non-planar external surfaces. The invention provides a method for the centerless grinding of shaft parts (), in particular of tubes for assembled camshafts, in the case of which the shaft part () which is to be ground, and has axial centering portions () on its end sides, is ground in rotatably driven fashion, in a manner which is customary in centerless grinding, in a gap between the grinding wheel () and regulating wheel (). In order to implement the method, the invention provides an appropriately dimensioned grinding-wheel and regulating-wheel pair () in a centreless grinding machine, in the case of which regions of increased diameter, i.e. a respective profiling, are/is provided in the side regions of said machine in order to grind the end regions () of the shaft part ().

A crankshaft including narrow flat shoulders that are located next to a bearing pin at adjacent cheeks of the crankshaft. The narrow flat shoulders are machined by turning a rotary tool. In the process, the crankshaft that is clamped in a fixed manner and rotates about a rotation and clamping axis in which also the centric longitudinal axis formed by centric bearing pins of the crank shaft is located. As a result, the bearing pins rotate with a geometric axis thereof on a circular path about the rotation and clamping axis. The rotary tool tracks the moving bearing pins with regard to the vertical and lateral movement thereof in two movement directions that are perpendicular to each other. As a result, the rotary tool is in consistent lateral engagement with the flat shoulder of the bearing pin.

Machine and method for turning at least flat shoulders on a crankshaft that surround crankpins

A method for completely machining at least unprocessed centric journals () and crankpin journals (), and the respective flat shoulders () thereof surrounding the journals, of flanged or cast blanks of a crankshaft first includes turning the flat shoulders () associated with the journals (). Then, the centric journals () are roughly ground without the flat shoulders () thereof and the crankpin journals () are roughly ground together with the flat shoulders () thereof. After the journals () have been roughly ground, an allowance remains that is smaller than an allowance required for common finish grinding of journals and flat shoulders. The rough grinding is followed by the finish grinding of the centric journals () and the crankpin journals () from the smaller allowance () remaining due to the rough grinding to the final dimension.
