A target toy for dropping objects such as parachutes from a carrier simulating an airborne vehicle such as an airplane, onto defined locations on an upwardly presented moving target area. A generally horizontal arm on a base extends above the target area and supports the toy airplane for generally radial back and forth scanning movement. The toy is provided with an optical sighting system which has a sight remote from the airplane and which may include a reducing lens to increase the illusion of height and permit the target locations to be seen in advance. The airplane appears to be flying high over the target area. There are manually operable mechanisms for selectively effecting the scanning movement of the toy airplane and for selectively releasing the parachutes from the airplane. A player can look through the sighting mechanism, can shift the airplane radially back and forth with respect to the rotating target area to sight selected locations on the target area, and can then operate the release mechanism to attempt to drop objects onto such selected locations.

Target game with releasable objects and rotating target member

A competitive action playing game with a shiftable ball-type playing piece. The playing game comprises a game board having a pair of oppositely spaced player ends with a frame peripherally surrounding the game board. The game board is provided with a plurality of rows of playing piece receiving recesses. The rows extend from end to end and there are a plurality of the recesses in each of the rows. A plurality of first and second actuating members are located at the respective first and second player ends with each one of the actuating members associated with a particular one of the rows. An individual first playing piece projecting element is located at each recess in each of the rows and like second projecting elements are located at each recess in each of the rows and the projecting elements in any one row are simultaneously operable by the first or second actuating member associated with that row. When the actuating member for a particular row is depressed, the associated projecting elements will extend upwardly in the recesses of that row so as to engage and propel the playing piece toward the opposed player end. The playing piece is an erratically movable ball with an outer shell. An inner element is freely movable within the outer shell to cause erratic movement of the playing piece and also provides additional weight to keep the playing piece in close proximity to the playing surface when it is propelled.

Competitive action playing game with erratically movable playing piece

Apparatus for playing a game comprising a game board having a playing area comprising a plurality of playing positions arranged in regular array, and sets of opposed playing pieces adapted to be moved within the playing area on the playing positions. The playing area including opposed starting/finishing positions and including indicating devices which are adapted, upon actuation of operating controls connected thereto, to indicate whether a playing piece may move within the playing area. The apparatus also includes a determining device to determine the number of playing positions to be moved by a playing piece.

Electrical board game apparatus

A time controlled memory-skill game comprised of a tower capable of generally continuous rotating by means of a simple wind-up spring motor and displaying one or more designs to be recreated through playing pieces by one or more players. Substrates each having a design imprinted thereon can be removably retained on an exterior surface of the rotating tower such that it would rotate and intermittently present the designs to one or more players seated around the rotating tower. Each player may have a different design to recreate or one or more designs can be shared by players. Each of the players is provided with a playing board and a plurality of playing pieces with design portions thereon such that each player can recreate his design as shown on the tower by locating playing pieces in the proper locations and orientations. A switch may be connected to the tower for stopping its rotation when one of the players has recreated his design, or the tower may stop after a predetermined time interval. In a preferred aspect of the present invention the playing pieces are three-dimensional, in the form of cubes.

Memory skill game

A toy playing game representative of an athletic game, as for example, baseball, and including a pair of player devices. A first of these player devices represents a baseball pitcher comprised of a structure capable of ejecting and propelling a ball toward the second of the player devices. The second of the player devices represents a baseball batter and is freely shifted with regard to the pitcher in order to locate an outwardly extending element, representative of a baseball bat, so it can be swung so as to hit the propelled ball. The batter device is comprised of an upstanding base section with a torso section pivotally mounted on the base section. The torso section carries the bat. The head section of the batter device is shiftably mounted for movement with respect to the torso section, so that upon depressing the head section, the torso section will pivot and thereby cause the pivotal or swinging movement of the bat. A camming arrangement may be used which multiplies the downward movement of the head section to provide greater swinging movement of the bat.

Toy athletic-type playing game

A movable doll's head having two randomly selected movements, one a nodding movement signifying a 'yes' answer, and the other a turning or 'shaking' movement signifying a 'no' answer. The doll's head is mounted on a support plate which is pivotally mounted for movement about a pair of axes. An actuating element, such as a playing card, may be introduced into the device so as to engage a portion of the support plate at a point offset from both axes of movement, thereby tending to cause movement about both the axes. However, a latch is operatively engageable with the support plate, to thereby cause movement to occur about only one of the axes. A camming wheel is randomly rotated by the movement of the card into and out of the device, with the resultant position of the camming wheel determining the latched or unlatched position of the latch. This in turn produces movement of the head on a random basis.

A preschool toy amusement arcade which includes a base frame having a plurality of amusement arcade games thereon. Each of the amusement games are designed so that they are self-contained and include no loose parts. In each of the games, a moving part is tied to some part of the arcade by a flexible connector, or otherwise a moving part is contained within a completely enclosed housing. Thus, the amusement arcade may contain all game features where the moving part is located in an enclosed housing. Otherwise, the arcade may contain one or more game features where the moving part is connected to the arcade by a flexible connector. Game features which utilize a moving part connected to the game by a flexible connector may adopt the form of a simulated gun range where a simulated gun issues a projectile toward a target member located to be contacted by the projectile. The flexible connector is attached to the simulated gun and to the projectile in order to prevent uncontrolled movement of the projectile or the losing of the projectile. The other types of games which employ completely enclosed housings, preferably have a transparent top. In this latter type of game a scoring element, such as a spherical object, can be released from a shooter mechanism for issuing the spherical object toward a form of target device or receiving member. An actuating member may be located exteriorly of the housing in order to actuate the shooter mechanism to thereby propel the spherical object toward the receiving member.

Toy amusement arcade

A competitive action game apparatus including a game board having a playing surface thereon. The playing surface has a high section intermediate each of a pair of opposed player ends and extends downwardly toward each of such player ends. A goal area is located at each of the opposed player ends. A rebound frame surrounds the playing surface except at the goal areas to retain a playing piece in the form of a ball on the surface. The playing surface is generally solid and continuous and uninterrupted between each of the goal areas. Manually shiftable support members are located in front of each of the goal areas and are capable of being shifted transversely in a direction substantially perpendicular to a line extending between the opposed playing ends. A pair of actuable striker elements, which may adopt the form of flippers, are disposed on each of the support members, and are manually actuated by means on the support members. Each player can shift his support member from side to side and can also actuate his flippers to strike the playing piece so as to protect his own goal while attempting to propel the ball into his opponent's goal. The double incline of the playing surface insures that the ball will not stall at an intermediate portion of the playing surface, but will always move down one or the other of the inclines toward a player area where it can be engaged by a striker element. This arrangement permits the use of striker elements which have limited movement such that portions of the playing surface are not within the reach of any of the striker elements.

Game apparatus with positional strikers

A play device for suspending a floatable object such as a foam plastic ball or a ping pong ball in an air stream and selectively manipulating the direction and position of the air stream so as to move the ball into areas defined by movable structures. The structures are themselves movable when contacted by the air stream to thereby move the ball-receiving areas and increase the difficulty and excitement of the play of the device. The areas may comprise passageways completely through the movable structures or may be the entrances to receptacles in which the ball may be received or may be defined areas adjacent to portions of the structures. The air stream may be provided by a hand-held blower unit which preferrably includes a cradle for the ball. The cradle includes apertures or openings therein which permits the ball to be lifted by the air stream from a starting position in the cradle and suspended in the air stream a substantial distance above the cradle. This permits the ball to be moved relative to the areas without the blower making physical contact with the movable structures which define the areas. The air stream may have a generally constant thrust so as to maintain the ball a generally constant and predetermined distance from the blower unit. Movement of the ball is accomplished by varying the location of the blower unit (i.e. up, down, or to the side) and by varying the orientation of the unit (i.e., its angle or level, front to back and side to side).

An action skill game including a game board with a pair of simulated aircraft shiftably mounted on the game board at each of the opposite ends thereof and each of which are operated by opponent players. The simulated aircraft are carried by a shiftable carrier mechanism which is also provided with a projectile shooting mechanism and which carrier mechanism also enables 'transverse movement' of the aircraft relative to the game board and 'pivotal movement' relative to the game board and the shooting mechanism. Each of the shooting mechanisms are provided with control sticks so that the opponent players can manuever the simulated aircraft as well as shoot projectiles at the other simulated aircraft. Each of the particular simulated aircraft employ a pair of moveable target elements which will shift rearwardly with respect to the fuselage of the aircraft when hit by a projectile from the opposite simulated aircraft. When both of the pair of targets on a particular aircraft have been hit and shifted, by the projectiles, a release mechanism permits the plane to pivot downwardly thereby simulating a damaged aircraft.

Toy aircraft action skill game

A toy game apparatus including a game playing board with a retaining wall extending around the playing board for retaining a playing surface of complex curvature with a pair of spaced apart recessed goals located at low areas in the playing board and with the game board having inclined walls leading from the center of the board and the periphery of the board to the pair of recessed goals. In this way, the portions of the game board surrounding the goal areas converge downwardly and inwardly toward the recessed goals so that a playing piece on the game board can enter the goals through arcuate paths and at any point around the entire periphery of the goals and from any direction. A goal cup is rotatably mounted in each of the goal recesses and a striker member is operatively connected to the goal cup for rotation therewith. A mechanical linkage connects each of the goal cups to associated actuating arms which are located at each of the player ends of the game board so that movement of an actuating arm will cause rotation of the connected goal cup and the striker member associated therewith. The striker members are located at the periphery of the goal cups so that they can defend the goals from any point around the periphery of the goals. A transparent cover extends over the playing board so that the playing piece is always retained therein, and when the playing piece enters a goal cup, it will pass through a discharge duct to the exterior of the game apparatus for reinsertion onto the playing board. In accordance with this game construction, the playing piece will always enter one or the other of the goals unless the player actuates the striker member in order to propel the playing piece away from its associated goal.

Toy game device and method

A toy spray painting system which includes a hand-held manually powered spray gun along with an easel for holding a substrate such as paper to receive a paint spray from the spray gun. The hand-held spray gun includes a frame having a pistol-grip handle with a trigger for one hand operation. Squeezing of the trigger will operate a member to issue air under pressure; the member could adopt the form of, for example, an expandable and contractable bellows which is operable by squeezing the trigger. Upon squeezing of the trigger, air under pressure is ejected through an orifice in a spray head of the spray gun to create an issued air stream. The issued air stream passes over a paint outlet defined by an opening in the upper end of an upright tube which extends down into a container of liquid paint. The paint container is also held by the frame. The spray gun operates in the manner of a liquid ejector so that a portion of the liquid paint is atomized and entrained in and carried by the stream to the substrate. Due to the design of the spray gun, it can be held and operated in one hand merely by squeezing the trigger. An adjustable mechanism on the spray gun permits adjustment of the height of the paint outlet relative to the height of the orifice in order to adjust the amount of paint entrained in the air stream. Stencils may be provided for face-wise disposition over the paint receiving surface of the substrate to create various patterns.

Toy spray painting system

A projectile toy which may be thrown by a first player and caught by a second receiving player. The toy is designed to follow a generally horizontal stable flight path and to glide in a generally horizontal orientation, particularly through the latter portion of its flight to facilitate being caught by the receiving player. The toy includes an elongated shaft, a set of front fins mounted at the forward end of the shaft, and a set of rear fins mounted at the rear end of the shaft. Both sets of fins are circumferentially spaced around the shaft and extend outwardly therefrom. The fins are made of a readily deformable plastic material which tends to retain its deformed shape upon removal of deforming forces. The toy is of lightweight construction, particularly with reference to its weight versus fin area ratio.

Throw and catch toy

A fast action air table handball game having a perforated, upwardly directed inclined playing surface. Disposed beneath the playing surface is enclosing structure which creates an air chamber beneath the playing surface. A pump or blower is provided for pumping air into the chamber under pressure so that air is emitted through apertures in the playing surface to thereby form an air flow cushion to aid in the movement over the surface of a disc-shaped play piece. The playing surface has a rear player's end and an opposite forward rebound end. The player's end is divided by an upstanding dividing structure into side-by-side player goal areas. The playing surface is surrounded except at the goal areas with upstanding peripheral play piece rebound surfaces piece on the playing surface, and off piece rebounds during play. The dividing structure provides added rebound surfaces. Each of the opponent players is provided with a hand-held striker for engaging the play piece, to propel it over the surface and against the rebound surfaces, particularly those at the opposite forward rebound end, to thereby cause it to rebound back toward the opponent player's goal area. Each player also uses his striker to defend his own goal area. The playing surface is inclined downwardly from the rebound end toward the players' end piece and to prevent it from coming to rest and thereby stopping the action play. Angle bumpers are also provided at various corners of the playing surface to form added rebound surfaces that provide added travel paths for the play piece and prevent it from becoming lodged in a corner and rebound it out into intermediate, more accessible portions of the playing surface and clear of rebound surfaces. A score detector may also be associated with each opponent player's goal area so that when the play piece is introduced into the goal area of the opponent player, the other player achieves a score.
