A method for measuring respiratory parameters of a subject using a range imaging sensor, wherein the method includes: receiving from the range imaging sensor at least one raw image of at least one portion of the torso of the subject, wherein each point of the raw image represents the distance between the range imaging sensor and the subject; generating a surface image of at least one portion of a surface of the torso of the subject by surface interpolation of the raw image; estimating a respiratory signal as a function of time calculated as the spatial average, in a given region of interest (ROI) defined on the torso of the subject, of the differences between the depth values of the surface image at a given time and the depth values of a reference surface image; and estimating a lung volume.

Body surface optical imaging for respiratory monitoring

A method for controlling the delivery of a breathing gas to a patient. The method comprises: delivering a flow of breathing gas to a patient, the breathing gas having a breathing gas flowrate and a fraction of inspired oxygen; measuring an oxygen saturation level of the patient; determining a respiratory rate of the patient; automatically adjusting the fraction of inspired oxygen of the breathing gas based on the measured oxygen saturation level of the patient and a breathing gas flowrate set-point; and automatically adjusting the breathing gas flowrate set-point based on the determined respiratory rate of the patient.

Method for delivery of breathing gas to a patient and system for performing same

A method is provided for detecting the presence of an anomaly within an observed physical signal. The observed signal includes an addition of a physical disturbance signal and a reference signal. The anomaly is relative to a change in the behavior of the reference signal compared with a first tolerance value. Such a method includes: determining a time span having at least one moment of interest; detecting the presence of the anomaly within the observed physical signal during the time span by conducting a hypothesis test using the first tolerance value, a first rate of tolerated false alarms, and data obtained from processing the observed signal.

A method for administering a gas containing oxygen to a patient. The method includes: measuring an oxygen-dependent physiological parameter in the patient; determining an optimal gas delivery parameter based on the oxygen-dependent physiological parameter; and administering the gas to the patient in accordance with the optimal gas delivery parameter. In some embodiment of the invention, the method also includes monitoring the oxygen-dependent physiological parameter.
