A closure device includes a first magnet and a housing with a second magnet positioned therein. The first magnet is configured to be position in a first object and the housing is configured to be positioned in a second object. The housing has a top end and at least one adjustment mechanism connected to the housing that moves the second magnet in at least one translational direction or at least one rotational direction relative to the top end of the housing. The movement of the second magnet relative to the top end of the housing adjusts the position or orientation of the second magnet relative to the first magnet to alter a magnetic force between the first magnet and the second magnet when the first magnet is positioned proximate the top end of the housing.

A foldable computing device comprises a first portion, a second portion, a hinge assembly rotatably coupling the first portion to the second portion, and a flexible display. The flexible display extends at least partially across the first portion and at least partially across the second portion, and spans the hinge assembly between the first portion and the second portion. The hinge assembly includes a hinge core, a first linkage component rotatably coupling the hinge core to the first portion and forming a portion of a backing support for the flexible display, and a first hinge guide rotatably coupling the hinge core to the first portion. The hinge assembly further includes a second linkage component rotatably coupling the hinge core to the second portion and forming another portion of the backing support for the flexible display, and a second hinge guide rotatably coupling the hinge core to the second portion.

A foldable computing device comprises a first portion, a second portion, a hinge assembly rotatably coupling the first portion to the second portion, and a flexible display. The hinge assembly includes a hinge core, a timing element, a first linkage component rotatably coupling the hinge core to the first portion, a first hinge guide rotatably coupling the hinge core to the first portion, a second linkage component rotatably coupling the hinge core to the second portion, and a second hinge guide rotatably coupling the hinge core to the second portion. Hinged computing devices often connect two components via one or more hinges, using either a door-hinge style or other conventional hinge style. Presenting a continuous visual impression of the computing device to the user, with any gaps covered, provides protection to internal components and suggests a higher overall quality of the computing device to the user. Using conventional hinges, achieving a 360-degree range of motion is difficult, and often requires a pair of hinges connected by a spine to accommodate the respective thicknesses of the two hinged components in all orientations. However, using a pair of conventional hinges connected by a spine to achieve a 360-degree range of motion can yield a variable gap between the spine and the hinged components. The presently disclosed technology is directed to mechanically deterministic sliding covers that conceal these variable gaps, while still maintaining a 360-degree range of motion of the computing device.

At the closed orientation a major axis of the oblong friction shaft is aligned with a major axis of the oblong aperture to provide a relatively low resistance to rotation and at the open orientation the major axis of the oblong friction shaft is rotated relative to the major axis of the oblong aperture to provide a relatively high resistance to rotation.

A tensioned synchronizing element synchronizes rotation of the first portion around the first hinge shaft to rotation of the second portion around the second hinge shaft.

A tensioned element includes an upper segment attached to the first optical module and a lower segment attached to the second optical module. Movement of the tensioned element thus generates opposing movement of the first and second optical modules, the first optical module moving in a direction parallel to a direction of movement of the upper segment, and the second optical module moving in a direction parallel to a direction of movement of the lower segment.

A first resilient member is oriented with a first end proximate the first compression surface and a second end proximate the second compression surface. A second resilient member is oriented with a first end proximate the first compression surface and a second end proximate the second compression surface. The device has a compressed state and an expanded state where the first compression surface and second compression surface move in a direction of the longitudinal axis between the compressed state and the expanded state.
