A supply and metering syringe for viscous dental compounds, having a syringe body which contains a piston and opens out in a delivery opening. The delivery opening adjoins the syringe body without a constriction. As a result, a separation of the compound components in the surface region of the emerging strand is prevented. The diameter of the syringe body preferably widens toward the delivery opening.

To avoid the stick-slip effect, the ram and the pusher rod (10) are each connected to a rack (6, 9), between which racks a gearwheel/pinion pair is arranged, which brings about a gear reduction from the pusher rod to the ram.

A dental compound applicator, having a shaft (1) that can be gripped in pencil-hold fashion, the front end of which can be connected to a syringe (4) containing the dental compound and a plunger, and containing a piston (6) for driving forward the plunger, which piston is connected to an actuation device (10) in that region of the shaft where a fingertip is located when gripping in pencil-hold fashion. The actuation device (10) comprises a toothed wheel which is mounted on the shaft, can be rotated by the fingertip and engages in a rack provided on the piston (6). The toothed wheel can consist of a larger grip wheel to be actuated using the finger, and a smaller pinion, cooperating with the rack, so that gearing down results.

The invention describes a material for making temporary crowns and bridges that comprises two pastes and can be mixed in a static mixer/application in one cycle without the incorporation of bubbles, and can be easily pressed out. The polymers produced from this are aesthetically pleasing and remarkably break-resistant. Their polymerization-related shrinkage proves to be extremely low. Their radiopaqueness meets clinical requirements.

A capsule for the storage and vibration mixing of two components, particularly for dental uses comprises a mixing chamber in which one of the components is stored, the chamber having an aperture which is closed by means of a removable closure member and a foil bag which can be ruptured without disintegration by the mixing movement is housed in the mixing chamber and contains the other component in liquid form. The liquid component is a high specific gravity liquid such as mercury and the closure member is sealingly secured to that part of the capsule which forms the mixing chamber by a seal which has a predetermined breaking strength, formed conveniently by a weld or adhesive. Externally the closure member presents a cylindrical socket to which can be fitted a cylindrical lever for the purpose of breaking the seal to remove the closure member and allow access to the interior of the mixing chamber for withdrawal of the mix.
