The invention relates to a composition comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane, where the thermoplastic polyurethane has been prepared from a) a diisocyanate, b) a polyol comprising a polyol A and a polyol B and c) a chain extender, optionally with the aid of catalysts and optionally further comprising additives and/or auxiliaries, and a salt and/or an ionic liquid, preferably an ionic liquid, is comprised in the composition and the polyol A comprises ethoxy and propoxy groups and the polyol B comprises butoxy groups.

Conductive thermoplastic polyurethane

The instant invention pertains to the use of an antistatic composition comprising a polar thermoplastic polymer and an ionic liquid as antistatic additive for non-polar thermo-plastic or elastomeric polymers. Further aspects of the invention are a process for the preparation of an antistatic non-polar thermoplastic or elastomeric polymer which process comprises incorporating therein a mixture of a polar thermoplastic polymer and an ionic liquid and the composition of a polar thermoplastic polymer, an ionic liquid and a non-polar thermoplastic or elastomeric polymer.

The invention relates to the preparation of an antistatic composition comprising adding a liquid or a dissolved ionic substance to a porous polymer and processing the porous polymer together with further additives and further thermoplastic polymers in the melt. The action of thermoplastic polymers to whose polymer backbone aliphatic or cycloaliphatic groups are bonded via a group --O--, --O--CO--, --CO--OR.sup.22 --OCO-- or --CO--O--, said aliphatic or cycloaliphatic groups being substituted by Cl, Br and/or iodine in the .alpha.-, .beta.-, .gamma.- or .omega.-position, on an unsubstituted or substituted tetrathio-, tetraseleno- or tetratelluro-naphthalene or -tetracene contained in this polymer gives electrically conducting compositions by the formation of charge transfer complexes. These compositions are suitable for the production of antistatic or electrically conducting mouldings, sheets, filaments, fibres, coatings and composites.
