Process and device for handling printed products

A device is provided for trimming an edge of printed products which are fed continuously at regular distances to a conveying arrangement. The conveying arrangement includes circulating, pocket-like conveying units that are loaded from above with printed products. The edges of the printed products project at the conveying units so that the edges extend through a cutting arrangement laterally disposed at the conveying arrangement and including a blade. A support arrangement includes a shoulder disposed on a rear side of the printed product relative to the blade. The support arrangement is set back from the projecting edge of the printed product and is disposed opposite the blade during the cutting process. The support arrangement is movable into position at least approximately over a length of a cut by the blade and is driven in the same direction and at the same cadence as the printed products that are fed to the cutting arrangement.

Device for trimming edges from printed documents

An apparatus for processing folded printed sheets includes a work station for processing the folded printed sheets and a conveying device driven with a transporting movement in a direction along a conveying path that is arranged alongside the work station. Saddle-shaped supports are attached to the conveying device and have supporting edges on which the printed sheets can be supported respectively along their fold by straddling the supporting edge of the respective saddle-shaped support. The saddle-shaped supports are conveyed along the conveying path so that the supporting edges are positioned transverse to the conveying path at a distance to each other and move successively past the work station which cooperates with the saddle-shaped supports respectively while the saddle-shaped supports are transported past the work station. A mechanism movably attaches the saddle-shaped supports on the conveying device and guides the respective supporting edges along a movement path in which, in a region of cooperation with the work station, a relative speed component of the supporting edges parallel to the conveying path, with respect to the work station, is smaller than a relative speed for the transporting movement of the conveying device.

Apparatus for processing printed sheets with a fold

A device for processing printed sheets and for feeding processed printed sheets to a machine for further processing the processed printed sheets. The device includes a feeder for separating the printed sheets from a stack of printed sheets and for conveying the printed sheets. The device also includes a conveying device disposed downstream of the feeder for conveying the printed sheets to the machine, and a conveying element disposed between the feeder and the conveying device for conveying and processing the printed sheets. The conveying element is driven to convey the printed sheets in a similar conveying direction and at a similar clock pulse as the feeder and the conveying device. The conveying element further includes carriers for transferring the printed sheets away from the feeder and for conveying the printed sheets; an inlet region disposed adjacent the feeder for receiving the printed sheets transferred away from the feeder by the carriers; an effective conveying region disposed adjacent the carriers and cooperating therewith for conveying the printed sheets; and processing means disposed adjacent the conveying region and including at least one of an insert feeding device and an imprinting device for processing the printed sheets thereby forming processed printed sheets.

Device for feeding a machine which processes printed sheets

A method and apparatus for supplying at least one enclosure to multiple-page printed sheets collected to form printed products at the edge opposite the last folded edges. The printed products are gripped at the fold side on collecting carriers and removed from the collecting apparatus. The products are supplied with enclosures on a further conveying path with the open edge facing a feeder.
