The invention relates to an unlocking device (), especially for a vehicle protection device, comprising a locking bar () which in a locked position establishes a connection positive at least in portions between a first component () to be unlocked and a second component () and permits relative motion of the two components () in an open position. The unlocking device () further comprises a pyrotechnical actuator () including a pyrotechnical element () having a propelling charge and a piston-cylinder unit () having a piston () and a cylinder (), wherein motion of the piston () or the cylinder () can be generated due to activation of the propelling charge upon ignition thereof and wherein the piston-cylinder unit () is connected to the locking bar () without redirection so that upon motion of the piston () or the cylinder () the locking bar is movable from its locked position into its open position.

Unlocking device

A pyrotechnic drive unit includes a cylinder tube () having an axial end (), a piston () guided in the cylinder tube (), a pyrotechnic igniter () which is adjacent to the piston () and constitutes the pyrotechnic drive, and a plastic part (). The plastic part () is injection-molded to the igniter () and to the axial end () of the cylinder tube () so that it fastens the igniter () to the cylinder tube () and tightly closes the axial end () of the cylinder tube (), the plastic part () engaging the piston () in an initial position of the drive unit ().

Pyrotechnic drive unit and method for the production of such a unit

A pyrotechnical actuator unit () for a vehicle safety system includes an outer housing () made of a plastic material accommodating a pyrotechnical igniter () that when activated breaks the outer housing. The outer housing () includes first and second plastic parts () permanently connected with each other. A gas bag module may have such an actuator unit (). A method of manufacturing a pyrotechnical actuator unit () including an outer housing () accommodating a pyrotechnical igniter () and made up of first and second housing parts () includes: producing the first housing part () having a recess for the pyrotechnical igniter (), inserting the pyrotechnical igniter () into the recess, and injection molding the second housing part () onto the pyrotechnical igniter () and onto a first end () of the first housing part () to essentially close a receiving space () for the pyrotechnical igniter ().

Pyrotechnical actuator unit, method of manufacturing the same, and gas bag module with such actuator unit

The invention relates to a gas bag module () for a vehicle safety system, including a gas bag (), a gas generator (), a module housing (), and a pyrotechnical actuator unit () which is fitted to a module component by an attachment section (), the space which is acted upon with an internal pressure upon an activation of the gas generator () and is at least partly limited by the gas bag interior being defined as a gas bag chamber (). After its activation, the actuator unit () breaks into the attachment section () fixed at the module component and at least one separated fragment (), the separated fragment () being situated outside of the gas bag chamber (), and a restraint element () being provided which limits the freedom of movement of the separated fragment ().

Gas bag module

The invention relates to a method of producing an igniter for a gas generator. The igniter contains a charge sleeve which has an open end. The method comprising the following steps: A pyrotechnic ignition charge is introduced via the open end into the charge sleeve such that an edge of the charge sleeve projects axially at the open end with respect to the ignition charge. The projecting part of the edge is shortened axially, and the open end is closed. The invention further relates to a charge sleeve which has a weakened zone running along its periphery, or has a section which is able to be removed from the remainder of the charge sleeve.

Method of producing an igniter

The invention relates to gas generator comprising an outer housing made of plastic, in which a pyrotechnic propellant charge and an igniter having its own igniter housing are accommodated. The igniter housing consists at least partially of plastic and is welded with the outer housing.

Gas generator

The invention relates to a pyrotechnic gas generator comprising a gas-tight outer housing consisting of at least two parts, a first part of which being a receiving part for pyrotechnic material and a second part of which being a base part which is connected with the receiving part by welding so as to form the outer housing. One of both parts has a radially projecting, surrounding flange with an outer peripheral edge and the other part has an axially extending, rim-like projection circumferentially surrounding said peripheral edge and having an inner surface which is contacted by the peripheral edge. The welding of the first and second parts is provided at the flange.

Pyrotechnic gas generator

The invention relates to a gas generator comprising a generator housing which has a base part, and an electric igniter which has a rear side, is fastened in the base part and has connection lines on the rear side. The gas generator further comprises a propellant charge in the generator housing, the propellant charge being provided outside the igniter and an insulating bush surrounding the connection lines and fastened to the generator housing. The insulating bush consists of plastic and contains electrically conductive particles.
