The present invention concerns a method for the detection of distortion products of otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), comprising the steps: (a) output of at least one first pair of primary tones each consisting of a first primary tone with frequency fand sound pressure level Land a second primary tone with frequency fand sound pressure level Lwith f&#x3e;f, and (b) detecting evoked distortion products of otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), characterized in that the first primary tone {f, L} is output with a time delay tafter the second primary tone {f, L}.

Method and apparatus for testing hearing ability

The automated determination of an individual function of a DPOAE level map with p=f(L, L) of human or animal hearing. The method may include reading into a main memory a model function with model parameters of a DPOAE level map, based upon a number of N DPOAE measurements of a stimulation frequency pair with respectively different level pairs in a population (p) of a population of normally hearing subjects, automatically presenting n different level pairs of a stimulation frequency pair via tone output means to an individual and detecting the corresponding DPOAE's of the individual via tone recording means, wherein at least the first level pair is predefined, iteratively adapting the model function to the measured n DPOAE's until an individual function is obtained with individual parameters of a DPOAE level map of the individual, outputting the individual function and/or its individual parameters.

In a method for examining the faculty of hearing for at least one ear of a mammal, in which growth curves are determined on the basis of the measurement of DPOAE's evoked by pairs of excitation signals (f, f) for different excitation frequencies f, the ear is presented with first excitation signals with a first excitation frequency fand a first noise level Land secondary excitation signals with a second excitation frequency fand a second noise level L. Pulse pairs with a first pulse of the first excitation signal and a second pulse of the second excitation signal are presented in the ear, and the DPOAE's evoked thereby are captured and evaluated. A set of at least two different pulse pairs with different second excitation frequencies fis presented in one block that is repeated several times during a measuring period.

Method and device for examining the faculty of hearing

The invention relates to a sound transducer for producing sound vibrations, which can be inserted in an ear and can be used in particular for an implantable hearing aid. The sound transducer has at least one carrier layer and at least one piezoelectric layer, as a result of which a deflection via a bimorph principle is achieved, or a deflection can be detected by picking up a voltage.

In a hearing aid having a microphone to be arranged at a body of a user for capturing ambient sound, a loudspeaker for outputting the ambient sound after having been amplified on a frequency-dependent basis, and a signal processor, the signal processor is configured to amplify the sound such that the amplified sound is audible to the user, and to automatically re-adjust the gain by the following steps: selecting a tone having a specific frequency; outputting the tone and the amplified ambient sound via the loudspeaker as an output sound; capturing via said microphone an analysis sound composed of ambient sound and of a reflection of said output sound; extracting a reflection of the tone from the captured analysis sound; and determining a reflection component for the specific frequency of the tone; adjusting the gain in frequency-specific manner and based on the determined reflection component.

Hearing aid and method for eliminating acoustic feedback in the amplification of acoustic signals

A device for the non-contacting measurement of an object to be measured, particularly for distance and/or vibration measurement, has at least one laser light source, optical devices for splitting the light into object light () and reference light () for interacting with the object to be measured and for superimposing object light and reference light following the interaction of the object light with the object to be measured, preferably a frequency shift device in the form of a Bragg cell for producing a frequency shift between the object light and the reference light and a detecting device () for converting reference light and object light into electrical signals suitable for further processing. The detecting device has at least two series-connected optoelectronic transducers in the form of photodiodes (). Between the transducers is located a tap () for tapping a difference signal which, for further processing, is supplied to a transimpedance circuit () associated with one of the transducers. Thus, there is a subtraction of photodiode currents prior to processing in an amplifier circuit in a balanced detection arrangement. This inexpensively permits measurements at high reference light power with resolutions in the quantum noise limit range.
