A method of predicting physiological alarm frequency by patient monitors includes collecting patient monitoring data of multiple patients in at least a first healthcare environment, and then determining an alarm rate model based on the patient monitoring data, wherein the alarm rate model describes alarm rates at a range of alarm configurations in the first healthcare environment. Initial alarm rate data is collected for a second healthcare environment, wherein the initial alarm rate data includes at least one alarm rate at at least one known alarm configuration within the range of alarm configurations. An alarm rate transform is then calculated for the second healthcare environment comparing the initial alarm rate data for the second healthcare environment to the alarm rate model. Alarm rates are predicted for the second healthcare environment at a different alarm configuration than the at least one known alarm configuration of the initial alarm rate data by applying the alarm rate transform to the alarm rate model.

Method and system for predicting physiological alarm frequency by patient monitors

A wireless patient monitor comprises a generic activator module having a universal connection port that connects with any one of multiple sensor devices, a battery, and a radio transmitter wirelessly connected to a host device. The generic activator module connects to any one of multiple sensor devices via the universal connection port to provide power from the battery to the sensor device and to receive digital physiological data from the sensor device. The radio transmitter transmits the digital physiological data received from the sensor device to a host device.

Method and system for verifying wireless connection between medical devices

A wireless sensing device and a method for operating a wireless sensing device are described herein. The wireless sensing device includes a battery power supply and a processor that transmits detected physiological parameters from the sensing device to a monitoring device. when the battery level within the sensing device falls below a minimum threshold, the processor of the sensing device reserves a portion of the battery charge to power an indicator to increase the noticeability of the sensing device. The sensing device can also include an RFID tag that is written to by the processor when the state of charge on the battery falls below the minimum threshold. The RFID tag allows RFID detectors to sense the presence of the sensing device without requiring additional battery power.

Method of increasing sensing device noticeability upon low battery level

The present invention concerns a catheter heating circuit for continuous cardiac output measurement. The circuit comprises a DC power source for supplying an operating voltage for the circuit, wherein the heating power from the heating circuit is fed to the catheter via an isolating transformer. Isolation is known per se and it is not described in detail. According to the invention the heating circuit further comprises means for generating a bipolar square wave with variable duty cycle, which square wave is supplied to said isolating transformer and further to the catheter filament.
