The object of the invention consists of pharmaceutical formulations containing rifaximin in the shape of microgranules made gastroresistant by an insoluble polymer at pH values between 1.5 and 4.0 and soluble at pH values between 5.0 and 7.5, by their preparation and by their use in the manufacture of medicinal preparations useful in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and mainly Crohn's disease.

The present invention provides oral formulations of Sulodexide for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with both insulin dependent and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Oral formulations containing doses adapted for administration to obtain a reduction in albumin excretion in patients with both micro and macro albuminuria and to produce lasting improvement in albumin excretion rate are provided. Methods of treating diabetic nephropathy using these formulations are also provided.

Methods and compositions using sulodexide for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy

The use of sulodexide, a glycosaminoglycan of natural origin extracted from mammalian intestinal mucosa, and of medicines containing it in the treatment of patients suffering from retinopathy of diabetic origin is the object of the present invention. The effectiveness of sulodexide has been proved by the significant lowering of the plasmatic exudation and of the hard exudates, by the improvement of the retinic lesions and by the restoration of the functional integrity of the membrane of the microcapillaries with subsequent decrease of the capillary permeability in diabetic patients treated with pharmaceutical compositions containing therapeutically effective amounts of drug.
