An absorbent core for absorbent articles such as diapers comprising a core wrap comprising a top side and a bottom side, an absorbent material between the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap, a first and second longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis and substantially free of absorbent material preferably through which the top side of the core wrap is preferably attached to the bottom side of the core wrap. The core has a central absorbent zone between the first and the second channel-forming areas and a first and second lateral absorbent zones disposed laterally outwardly. The basis weight of the absorbent material in the central absorbent zone is higher than the basis weight of the absorbent material in each of the lateral absorbent zones for at least a first transversal section (S). This relation is inverted along a second transversal section (S) of the core. The first and second sections have each a length in the longitudinal direction of at least 10 mm.

The core comprises at least one channel-forming area that is substantially free of absorbent material. The masking layer and the bottom side of the core wrap are only partially bonded to each other at their interface, the interface thus comprising a bonded portion and an unbonded portion, wherein the channel-forming area at least partially corresponds to the unbonded portion of the interface, so that when the absorbent material swells, the masking layer can decouple from the three-dimensional channels.

An absorbent article comprising a liquid permeable topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core comprising an absorbent material and a core wrap is provided. The article comprises an intermediate layer between the bottom side of the core wrap and the backsheet. The intermediate layer and the absorbent core are only partially bonded to each other at their interface and the interface comprises a bonded portion and a unbonded portion. The intermediate layer can at least partially decouple from the absorbent core in the unbonded portion, which increases flexibility of the article in the transversal direction.

An absorbent article such as a diaper extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to a longitudinal axis (') and a transversal direction (′) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and comprising a distribution layer () between a topsheet () and an absorbent core (). The distribution layer comprises a fibrous material and a first and second longitudinally-extending channels () substantially free of fibrous material. The fibrous material is profiled in the transversal direction so that average basis weight between the channels differs from the average basis weight in the lateral areas outward of the channels by at least 50 g/mand/or wherein the distribution layer comprises a first region having a first basis weight (bw) and a second region having a second basis weight (bw), wherein the first basis weight and the second basis weight differ by at least 20 g/m, preferably by at least 50 g/m, and these regions are present in different areas of the distribution layer but in the same longitudinally extending transversal section. An absorbent article includes a longitudinal axis extending in a longitudinal direction of the article, a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet. The absorbent core includes a superabsorbent polymer. The article further includes an acquisition-distribution layer; and at least one channel positioned within a layer located between the topsheet and the backsheet, the at least one channel being substantially free of fibers and superabsorbent polymer. An indentation occurs in at least one of the topsheet and the backsheet that correspond to the at least one channels when the article is loaded with fluid.

A disposable absorbent article may include a chassis that includes a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet; and a leg gasketing system. The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff; the inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge, and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded laterally outward to form the inner cuff folded edge, and the leg gasketing system further including a leg gasketing system pocket with an opening on an inboard longitudinal edge of the leg gasketing system pocket. The disposable absorbent article also includes at least one channel in the absorbent core.

An absorbent core for use in an absorbent article, the absorbent core extending in a transversal direction and a longitudinal direction. The absorbent core includes a fluid-permeable top layer, a bottom layer, and a central layer between the top layer and the bottom layer. The central layer may be a high loft fibrous nonwoven layer, in particular having a density of less than about 0.200 g/cc, measured at a pressure of 4.14 kPa. Superabsorbent polymer particles may be blended with the fibers of the central layer, except for one or more longitudinally-extending channels substantially free of superabsorbent polymer particles.

Absorbent articles herein may provide a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core may comprise at least one channel having a shape. The backsheet graphics may substantially match the shape.

An absorbent article for personal hygiene comprising: a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core, the backsheet comprising a plastic film having a longitudinal tear strength measured in N/cm; the absorbent core being partially attached to the plastic film of the backsheet by a first glue wherein at least a continuous area of 10 mm in longitudinal direction and 25 mm in transversal direction of the bottom side of the core is unattached to the backsheet by the first glue or by any other means of attachment.
