Improved shaped charge assembly of relative lightweight and sealable consction and composed of nonmetallic and nonmagnetic materials that can be used for selectively destroying or disarming a variety of targets. The assembly is generally made up of casing means of tubular-like configuration, jet-forming linear means of conical shape and shaped charge body means. The liner means is interposed between the ends of the casing means where the charge body means is interposed between the casing means and the liner means at one end of the casing means. Depending upon the manner in which the assembly is to be used, at least the one end of the casing means is capped. Suitable plastic materials for use in the liner means have been found to be either polyethylene or polypropylene, having an ultra-high molecular weight. Optimum geometric parameters have been found in the use of these plastic materials for limiting the size and angular configuration of the liner means, the depth of the charge body means above the liner means, and the length of the casing means between the liner means and its other end, all for the purpose of assuring that the assembly causes the formation of an efficient jet for penetrating a target. Whenever it is required to boost the explosive effect of the shaped charge assembly, a sleeve of suitable plastic explosive material can be disposed about the one end of the casing means. Since the liner means has a density which is very similar to that of the charge body means, the assembly can form a jet having a front-tip velocity of at least 6,000 meters per second (6 km/s).

Shaped charge assembly

A tamper mass including particulate material held together by a binder in a elf-contained supporting shape surrounding a concavity in a forward face containing an explosive, whereby upon detonation of the explosive, the tamper material provides initial and temporary confinement of detonation products to directing forces forward. After shock loading, the tamper material disintegrates into very fine particles, which individually contain very little energy in dispersion.

A gas flow distribution manifold for distributing oxygen equally to a pluity of burn bar torches allowing large holes to be burned in steel objects is disclosed. The manifold includes a central plenum chamber connected to radial cross passages. Orifices connect the cross passages to outlet chambers wherein the burn bar torches are mounted. Sonic gas flow is maintained through the orifices providing equal flow to the torches.

An underwater excavator comprising a modular non-metallic cofferdam wherein ater under pressure exits from a plurality of nozzles along at least one side of the base of the cofferdam and a fluid driven eductor driven by pressurized fluid evacuates the suspended solids raised by the pressurized fluid that flows through the nozzles, with a plurality of small barrier nozzles located along one or more horizontal conduits used to sink the cofferdam.

Underwater excavator

A method and apparatus for combustion of fuel wherein in two mutually perdicular air swirls are used. In the cylindrical section of the combustor, a horizontal swirl with respect to the combustor is set in motion. The conical section in conjunction with the cylindrical section forms a vertical swirl with respect to the combustor. Notably, the combustor is not dependent upon orientation in a gravity field.

A cutting torch and method for cutting or removing a material in which a high-velocity reactive gas stream is used to promote combustion of the material whereby a hollow elongated structure with an adequate supply of aluminum for producing unstable aluminum oxides are utilized.
