A dynamic adaptive cruise control method for a first vehicle includes a controller disposed within the first vehicle identifying a second vehicle in a direction of travel of the first vehicle. The controller determines a distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle. The controller determines a safe travel distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle based at least in part on a set of primary factors and a set of secondary factors. The controller modifies a cruise speed of the first vehicle to maintain at least the determined safe travel distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle.

Dynamically adjusting adaptive cruise control

An electric motor-driven parking brake of a motor vehicle can be released in an emergency by applying emergency current from a parallel emergency current source to the motors controlling the parking brake. The direction of the emergency current is selected to reverse the motors, i.e., release the parking brake.

Redundant integrated parking brake release circuit

An instrument panel interaction system for an automotive vehicle is provided that includes an alerting device configured to produce an alert. A controller is controllably coupled to the alerting device, the controller being operable to activate the alerting device to produce the alert. An inquiring device is communicatively coupled to the controller. The inquiring device is configured to ask the driver whether a child is present. The controller is configured to activate the alerting device to produce the alert when a predetermined condition is met and an affirmative response has been received that a child is present. A method of reminding a driver of the presence of a child within a motor vehicle is also provided.

Baby on board reminder

A method of controlling stability of a vehicle comprises monitoring vehicle information with an electronic control unit. An approaching unstable driving condition is detected from the vehicle information with an electronic control unit. A signal is sent from the electronic control unit to at least one vehicle system to apply at least one proactive vehicle stability control action prior to the occurrence of the unstable driving condition.
