A nacelle for a wind turbine and a method for erecting a wind turbine are disclosed. The nacelle comprises a main unit arranged to be connected to a wind turbine tower, via a yawing arrangement, and at least one side unit mounted along a side of the main unit in such a manner that direct access is allowed between the main unit and the side unit(s), each side unit accommodating at least one wind turbine component, and at least one side unit being capable of carrying the wind turbine component(s) accommodated therein. The main unit and at least one of the side unit(s) are distributed side by side along a substantially horizontal direction which is substantially transverse to a rotational axis of a rotor of the wind turbine. A sufficient interior space of the nacelle is obtained while allowing the nacelle to be transported due to the modular construction. The weight of the wind turbine components is arranged close to the tower due to the transversal arrangement of the side unit(s) relative to the main unit.

A wind turbine tower is supported on a transition piece that connects the tower to a foundation and that defines a space beneath the lower end of the tower. Electronic components positioned within a removable module in the lower portion of a wind turbine tower may be removed through a lower end of the tower for service or replacement.

Methods and apparatus for servicing wind turbine components through a lower portion of a tower

The application relates to a liquid containment assembly () for a wind turbine (), comprising: a support () for supporting wind turbine equipment (); and a flexible container () suspended beneath the support (). The flexible container () is arranged such that it is moveable between a collapsed position, in which the liquid containment assembly () has a first depth (D), and an expanded position, in which the liquid containment assembly () has a second depth (D), the second depth being greater than the first depth.

The invention provides a tool for moving a drivetrain component in a nacelle of a horizontal axis wind turbine, the nacelle comprising a nacelle structure, the component being connected, in operation of the wind turbine, to a rotor of the wind turbine, the tool comprising at least drive unit for moving the component in relation to the nacelle in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the rotor, and a plurality of position adjustment devices adapted to be located between the nacelle structure and the component, and distributed so that rotational movement of the component can be provided by coordinated control of the position adjustment devices.

The invention relates to a method for installation of a power control module in a tower for a wind turbine. The method includes, providing a power control module () and providing a tower section (). According to the invention the following steps are included in the mentioned sequence. a) providing a temporary support device (), b) placing the power control module () on the temporary support device (), c) placing the tower section () around the power control module (), d) connecting the power control module () to the tower section (), and e) removing the connected power control module () and tower section () from the temporary support device (). The invention also relates to an aggregate component for a wind turbine. The component includes a power control module () and a tower section (). The power control module () is connected to and supported by the tower section () in a state as a pre-fabricated and mobile component. According to the invention the power control module () hangs suspended in the tower section ().

Method for installation of a power control module in a wind power unit tower and an aggregate component

A yawing system for a wind mill consists of two yawing motors (9, 11) acting on a toothed rim of the yawing bearing. On each its drive shaft (21) the motors (9, 11) are provided with a free wheel (23) and an electromagnetic friction brake (25). The free wheel devices (23) are directed opposite each other. A control system operates in a passive state in such a manner that the motors give opposite and relative to the braking moment of the brake (25) of a second motor smaller torque thereby avoiding dead clearance between drive wheel (15) and toothed rim (17) while at the same time keeping the generator housing (5) of the mill at rest. In the active state of the control system both brakes (25) are disengaged and both motors give a higher torque in the same direction. The system acts as a shock absorber by loads exceeding the fixed slip moment of the friction brake (25).
