The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for measuring particle concentrations in an aerosol. The apparatus comprises means () for driving flow () into apparatus (), means () for electrically charging particles () to become electrically charged particles () by ions () produced by a charger, means () for removing free ions () which are not attached to the electrically charged particles (), and means () for measuring electrical current carried by the electrically charged particles (). The means () for charging the particles and the means () for measuring electrical current carried by the electrically charged particles () are dimensioned such that the means () for measuring electrical current carried by the electrically charged particles () only measures a part of a total current carried by the particles.

The present invention relates to an apparatus () and process for measuring characteristics of a particle flow. The measuring is done with two different cut-off diameters of a particle trap () of which one cut-off diameter is adjusted based on the measured particle characteristics.

The invention relates to a method and device for measuring gaseous substances, in which the method comprises the stages: ionization of the sample gas in a gas flow, leading of the ionized gas flow through an elongated ion-mobility measuring chamber in the cross-section defined by it, filtering out of ions from the ionized gas flow at a distance from the measuring electrodes, permitting the passage of only the ions travelling from the flow cross-section at the selected point, separation of ions with a different ion mobility, with the aid of a transverse static electric field and at least one measuring-electrode pair arranged along the wall of the measuring chamber.
