A piston assembly includes a housing, a piston positioned within the valve housing, and an inductive proximity probe sensor positioned on the housing configured to detect a position of the piston with the housing. The piston is configured to at least one of rotate or translate axially relative to the housing. The piston includes a variable surface. A fuel control system includes the piston assembly, a servo valve in fluid communication with the piston assembly, and an engine controller. The engine controller is operatively connected to the inductive proximity probe sensor.

A burst disc system can include a plurality of burst discs serially arranged to successively rupture one at a time. Each burst disc can be configured to rupture at one or more set burst pressures. The system can include an indicator configured to allow a user to receive an indication that a last burst disc of the plurality of burst discs has ruptured.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to monitoring health of a hydraulic system. A method includes monitoring pressure within the system and determining when a potential fatigue condition may occur based on counting the number of times pressure in the system has exceeded the at least one threshold. In some embodiments, strain cycle data is calculated based on a time sequence of signals generated by a hydraulic fitting, which is indicative of strain of the hydraulic fitting. An output signal indicative of the fatigue condition determined is generated. In some embodiments, the strain data includes a number of strain cycles that the time sequence of signals crosses from below a strain threshold to above the strain threshold.

Determining a fatigue condition of a hydraulic system

A fuel metering unit includes a metering valve and a sensor. The metering valve includes a valve body movably disposed within a valve housing. The valve body defines a first bore that extends from a first valve body end towards a second valve body end along a first axis and a first window that extends through the valve body along a second axis. The sensor extends at least partially through the valve housing and faces towards the first window. The sensor being arranged to provide a signal indicative of a position of the first window relative to the sensor.
