An electricity monitoring device may monitor electrical activity including transmission of electricity via an electrical distribution board to devices about the home. Electrical activity may be correlated with respective electrical devices to build an electrical profile associated with the structure. In response to a claimed damage to the structure or to electric devices therein, some electrical activity may be compared to the electrical profile to determine whether the damage occurred voluntarily or involuntarily.

Systems and methods for utilizing electricity monitoring devices to reconstruct an electrical event

A home cost analysis server for executing a customized home search may include a processor programmed to define a user budget constraint, receive a list of available homes, and determine an initial monthly cost for each home. A home cost analysis server is configured to train an image processing program to identify features of homes, receive user input including a prospective home, and access a first database storing metadata and images associated with homes, including the prospective home, available for purchase. The server is also configured to input images of the prospective home to the machine-learned image processing program, which outputs a feature of the prospective home, access a second database storing historical ancillary costs, and perform a lookup in the second database to retrieve comparable historical ancillary costs associated homes having a comparable feature to the outputted feature. The server is further configured to analyze the metadata associated with the prospective home, the outputted feature, and the comparable historical ancillary costs to determine ancillary home costs associated with the prospective home, and display the ancillary home costs and an overall monthly cost for the prospective home.

The processor may also isolate a first subset of homes having a monthly cost that satisfies the budget constraint, and a second subset of homes having a monthly cost within the threshold difference of the budget constraint, and display the first and second subsets along with respective first and second graphical indicators, as well as a third graphical indicator of a first adjustable expense data element, the third graphical indicator recommending reducing the first adjustable data element to move at least one first home from the second subset into the first subset.

A home cost analysis server for identifying one or more hidden home costs may include a processor programmed to receive user input including at least one prospective home. The processor may access a first external database storing metadata associated with a plurality of homes available for purchase, the plurality of homes including the prospective home, and access a second external database storing historical ancillary costs associated with a plurality of homes in a geographic area surrounding the prospective home. The processor may analyze metadata associated with the prospective home and the historical ancillary costs to determine ancillary home costs associated with the prospective home, and cause to be displayed the ancillary home costs at the user computing device using at least one graphical indicator. As a result, the prospective homebuyer may have additional education and insight into the potential costs of owning a home.

Systems and methods for identifying hidden home maintenance costs

A computer-implemented method for identifying a property usage type based upon sensor data includes, with customer permission or affirmative consent, receiving data generated by various sensors; generating a report that includes a listing of events recorded by each sensor; analyzing data from the report to determine a property usage type score; receiving data regarding types and levels of insurance coverage associated with the property usage type score; receiving data derived from a homeowner's insurance policy; comparing the types and levels of insurance coverage associated with the property usage type score with the types and levels of insurance coverage from the homeowner's current insurance policy; and transmitting a message to the homeowner to update their insurance policy if there are differences between (i) the insurance coverage that the homeowner has, and (ii) the insurance coverage the homeowner should have based upon the property usage type score.

Identifying property usage type based upon smart sensor data

A home cost analysis server for executing a customized home search may include a processor programmed to receive user input including a geographic area and a budget, and define a budget constraint. The processor may access an external database storing a list of available homes in the geographic area, and analyze metadata associated with each available home on the list to determine a monthly home cost associated with each available home. The processor may also determine a significant home maintenance cost associated with each available home based upon the metadata and the geographic area, and calculate a total cost associated with each available home. The processor may further isolate a subset of the available homes having the total cost associated therewith that satisfies the budget constraint, and cause to be displayed the subset of available homes along with a graphical indicator that associates the total cost with the budget constraint.

A computer-implemented method of providing insurance discounts to risk averse home owners having standby generators. The method may include, with customer permission or affirmative consent, (1) receiving, at an insurance provider remote server, data that is indicative of whether a standby generator is associated with a home; (2) receiving, at the insurance provider remote server, data indicative of the current operational condition of the standby generator; and (3) determining, by the insurance provider remote server, data associated with the terms of the residential insurance coverage for the home based upon the data indicative of whether the standby generator is associated with the home and the data indicative of the current operational condition of the standby generator. The standby generator data may be generated or collected by a smart home controller, and transmitted to the insurance provider via wireless communication over one or more radio links or communication channels, for instance.

Using standby generator data to determine data associated with terms of residential insurance coverage

A computer-implemented method for providing user interaction data associated with a property is presented. A plurality of dimensions associated with a portion of the property may be determined. Image data associated with the portion of the property may be determined using an image sensor. The plurality of dimensions associated with the portion of the property may be associated with the image data associated with the portion of the property to generate the user interaction data associated with the property. The user interaction data may be provided via a user interface. The user interaction data may allow a user of the user interface to view at least one image of the portion of the property. The at least one image may be based on the plurality of dimensions associated with the portion of the property and the image data associated with the portion of the property.
