The invention relates to an electrode assembly for an electrochemical process comprising a current supply element comprising at least one recessed hole; at least one current distribution bar comprising a first end portion and a second end portion, the first end portion being releasably arranged at the at least one recessed hole; and an electrode substrate arranged at the at least one current distribution bar. The current distribution bar comprises a core and an outer layer, the core being completely covered by the outer layer. The invention also relates to a method of restoring the electrode substrate of the electrode assembly without removing the electrode substrate from the at least one current distribution bar.

Electrode assembly for electrochemical processes and method of restoring the same

The invention is related to an electrode assembly for an electrochemical process comprising a current supply device, an elongated current distribution bar comprising first and second ends, and a sheet-shaped electrode substrate attached to the current distribution bar and having a longitudinal extension and a lateral extension. The current distribution bar comprises a first portion attached to the current supply device, a second portion extending along the electrode substrate, and a third portion extending between the first and second portions. The current distribution bar is bent between its first and second ends, and the current supply device is laterally and longitudinally positioned beyond the electrode substrate. The second portion at least partly extends longitudinally along the electrode substrate.

Electrode assembly for electrochemical processes

The present invention relates to a method of preparing an electrode comprising providing an electrode substrate, depositing on said electrode substrate a first substantially aqueous coating solution comprising precursors of a valve metal oxide and of at least two platinum group metal oxides, treating the first coating solution to provide a first metal oxide coating layer on the electrode substrate, depositing on said first coating layer a second substantially organic coating solution comprising precursors of a valve metal oxide and at least one platinum group metal oxide, wherein at least one of the precursors is in organic form, treating said second coating solution to provide a second metal oxide coating layer on the first coating layer. The invention also relates to an electrode obtainable by said method, and the use thereof.

The present invention relates to a method for activation of a cathode comprising at least a cathode substrate wherein the cathode is cleaned by means of an acid, the cleaned cathode is coated with at least one electrocatalytic coating solution, drying the coated cathode until it is at least substantially dry, and thereafter contacting the cathode with a solvent redissolving precipitated electrocatalytic salts or acids formed on the cathode, originating from the electrocatalytic solution, to form dissolved electrocatalytic metal ions on the cathode surface, so that said electrocatalytic metal ions can precipitate as metals on the cathode. The invention also comprises a cathode obtainable by the method and the use of an activated cathode in an electrolytic cell for producing chlorine and alkali hydroxide.
