The present invention provides an apparatus comprising a housing and a flexible reservoir adapted to contain a fluid and having a septum member formed from a needle-penetratable self-sealing material. The flexible reservoir is arranged within the housing in combination with mounting means arranged within or formed by the housing, wherein the mounting means engages the septum member to thereby mount the flexible reservoir relative to the housing. In this way a secure fixation between the reservoir and the housing is provided without having to interfere with the general flexibility of the reservoir, e.g. substantially the entire flexible reservoir apart from the outlet/mounting means may be arranged free to move relative to the housing, this allowing the reservoir to be emptied to a high degree.

Reservoir device with integrated mounting means

A medical device is provided comprising a transcutaneous device unit and a process unit. The transcutaneous device unit may comprise a transcutaneous device for transporting a fluid through a skin portion of a subject, and a mounting surface adapted for application to the skin of the subject. The process unit may comprise a reservoir adapted to contain a fluid drug, the reservoir comprising an outlet means allowing the transcutaneous device to be arranged in fluid communication with an interior of the reservoir, and an expelling assembly for expelling a fluid drug out of the reservoir and through the skin of the subject via the transcutaneous device. The transcutaneous device unit and the process unit further comprise coupling means allowing the reservoir unit to be secured to the transcutaneous device unit in the situation of use. By this arrangement a two-unit system is provided which can be used in a convenient and cost-effective manner.

Medical skin mountable device and system

The present invention generally relates to skin-mountable devices. A device in accordance with the invention comprises a skin-mountable unit having a mounting surface comprising adhesive for adhering the unit to the skin of a subject, and a handling unit releasably attached to the skin-mountable unit. The handling unit comprises an interior space at least partially accommodating the skin-mountable unit and has an opening through which the skin-mountable unit can be moved when detached from the handling unit, the handling unit having a portion surrounding the opening. A seal member is releasably attached to the circumferential portion, providing a closed space for the skin-mountable unit. The device allows for easy handling. The user can grip the handling unit and handle the combined device during operation. The handling unit can be designed and optimized for ease of use during manipulation of the skin-mountable unit.

Integrated package

A medical device is provided, comprising a first unit and a releasably attachable second unit. The first unit comprises a mounting surface adapted for application to the skin of a subject, and a transcutaneous device comprising a distal pointed end adapted to penetrate the skin of the subject, wherein the transcutaneous device has a first position in which the distal end is retracted relative to the mounting surface, and a second position in which the distal end projects relative to the mounting surface. The second unit comprises actuatable driving means adapted to move the transcutaneous device from the first position to the second position when the driving means is actuated with the second unit attached to the first unit. By this arrangement the first unit can be applied to the skin of the subject using the second unit as a gripping and handling means, whereafter the driving means can be actuated for insertion of the transcutaneous device.

External inserter for transcutaneous device

A device comprises a housing having a mounting surface adapted for application to the skin of a subject, a needle with a pointed end portion adapted to penetrate the skin the subject, the needle having a first position in which the distal end portion is retracted within the housing, and a second position in which the distal end portion projects relative to the mounting surface. The device further comprises actuatable driving means actuatable to cause activation as well as release of the driving means, thereby moving the needle from the first position to the second position. By this arrangement the needle device can be supplied to the user in a non-energized state, the energizing taking place when the device is actuated by the user which means that energy will be stored only for a period from a few seconds to a few hours or days.

Internal needle inserter

The invention provides a transcutaneous medical device () comprising a lower surface adapted for application towards the skin of a subject, attaching means () for securing the lower surface relative to the skin, and a transcutaneous device () adapted to penetrate the skin of the subject. The transcutaneous device is mounted for movement between an extended position in which the transcutaneous device projects relative to the lower surface and a retracted position in which the transcutaneous device is retracted relative to the lower surface. The medical device further comprises release means () which can be operated from a first state through an intermediate state to a second state, whereby operation of the release means from the first to the intermediate state causes the transcutaneous device to be moved from the extended position to the retracted position, and operation of the release means from the intermediate to the second state causes release of the attaching means.

Retraction means for transcutaneous device

The present invention generally relates to the insertion of needles or needle-like members. Thus, a device comprises a housing having a mounting surface adapted for application to the skin of a subject, and a needle unit connected to the housing by a hinge allowing the needle unit to pivot corresponding to a pivoting axis defined by the hinge, the pivoting axis being arranged substantially in parallel with the mounting surface. The needle unit comprises a needle having a distal pointed portion adapted to penetrate the skin of the subject, the distal portion extending generally perpendicular to the mounting surface, and a proximal portion arranged substantially corresponding to the pivoting axis, whereby the needle unit is arranged to pivot between a first position in which the distal portion of the needle is retracted within the housing, and a second position in which the distal portion projects relative to the mounting surface. The needle may e.g. be in the form of a hollow needle or a needle sensor.
