Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for session management. A method comprises receiving from a user equipment (UE) a request for establishing another session to a data network identified by a data network identification. At least one existing session of the UE has been established to the data network. The method further comprises checking whether the subscription data or the policy data for the UE includes a first indication which indicates that a same session management node for multiple sessions to the data network identified by the same data network identification is required. The method further comprises selecting the same session management node as the at least one existing session for the UE when the subscription data or the policy data includes the first indication. The method further comprises sending a session establishment request to the selected session management node.

Method and apparatus for session management

A method of and a Session Management Function, SMF, for provisioning processing rules for user traffic at a User Plane Function, UPF, in a core network of a telecommunication network are disclosed. The core network comprises an Access and Mobility Management Function, AMF and a Policy Control Function, PCF. The SMF first transmits to the PCF a request for obtaining processing rules for user traffic; the SMF then receives from the PCF processing rules enabling at least one of a Uniform Resource Identifier, URI, level processing policy and a Server Name Indication, SNI, level processing policy for the user traffic and provision the received processing rules with the UPF. The UPF can then process user traffic based on the provisioned processing rules, differentiating the user traffic at the more detailed URI and/or SNI level.

A method performed by a first network entity comprises: transmitting packet detection information, PDI, to a second network entity, wherein the PDI indicates information on one or more traffic endpoints on which packets are to be detected.

Method and apparatus for improved packet detection rule provision

The present disclosure provides methods for signaling QoS Flow control parameters, and corresponding NF entities. The method comprises generating one or more data flow rules associated with a QoS Flow and a QoS Flow profile. The data flow rules include parameters specific to a data flow that belongs to the QoS Flow, while the QoS Flow profile includes parameters that are common to all data flows that belong to the same QoS Flow. Systems and methods to measure the number of packets in Control/User Plane Separation, CUPS, are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a Control Plane, CP, entity includes: determining that packet counting should be performed by a User Plane, UP, entity; providing measurement instructions to the UP entity for counting packets and identifying a recipient of a packet count if the CP entity is not the recipient; and, if the CP entity is the recipient of the packet count, receiving, from the UP entity, a packet count. In this way, a CP function is able to instruct a UP function to perform a measurement in terms of packets, e.g., a measurement of the number of packets transmitted.
