Methods, apparatus and machine-readable mediums relating to traces in a wireless communication network

According to some embodiments, a method performed by a non-real time radio access network intelligent controller (NonRT-RIC) network node comprises obtaining data for improving radio resource management (RRM) of a radio access network (RAN) and building an AI interface message comprising one or more enrichment information (EI) elements based on the obtained data. Each of the one or more EI elements comprises an identifier of one or more wireless devices, a type indicator indicating a type of enrichment data included in the EI element, and the enrichment data. The method further comprises transmitting the AI interface message to a near real time radio access network intelligent controller (NearRT-RIC).

Data sharing between a Non-RT-RIC and a NearRT-RIC for radio resource management

A Central Unit-Control Plane (CU-CP) of a radio access network (RAN) node can operate in a communication network to dynamically schedule user-plane (UP) communications. The CU-CP can be communicatively coupled to a Distributed Unit (DU) and a Central Unit-User-Plane (CU-UP) of the RAN node. The CU-CP can provide indication of one or more available UP paths to at least one network element. The at least one network element can include one or more of: a user equipment, UE; the CU-UP of the RAN node; and/or the DU of the RAN node. The CU-CP can provide indication of a scheduling strategy for data transmissions to the at least one network element.

A user equipment, UE, () determines a mobility state of a Wi-Fi access point, AP, as one of a moving mobility state and a non-moving mobility state along with control information relating to UE cell (re-)selection and/or handover behavior based on the determined mobility state of the Wi-Fi access point, AP. The UE then controls its cell (re-)selection and/or handover behavior in relation to the Wi-Fi access point, AP based on the determined control information. In a preferred embodiment, the UE can communicate with a cellular base station, BS, and with the Wi-Fi access point, AP. The UE detects the Wi-Fi AP, determines that the Wi-Fi AP is moving based on a moving AP indication, and controls cell (re-Selection and/or handover behavior of the UE based on the determination that the Wi-Fi AP is moving along with other information.

In a method of operating a wireless terminal, the wireless terminal () sends a request to participate in a circuit switched call with a circuit switched network. Prior to establishment of the circuit switched call the wireless terminal () releases or performs an inter-radio access technology handover of an existing packet switched session with an original packet switched network. The wireless terminal () then reconnects to the packet switched session to obtain a reconnected packet switched session. Thereafter the wireless terminal () interleaves packet switched transmissions of the reconnected packet switched session with voice transmissions of the circuit switched call.

A wireless terminal () communicates across a wireless interface with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio access technology network (-) and a circuit switched network (-). A system includes a first access network arranged to operate according to a first Radio Access Technology, a second access network arranged to operate according to a second Radio Access Technology, and a user device which is connectable to the first access network and to the second access network. The system also includes an authentication node arranged to identify the user device, when seeking access to the second access network, through a user device identifier for the user device, wherein the user device identifier is associated with the first access network. A query node provides information about a context of the user device in the first access network based on the user device identifier. An access selection node generates an access selection decision for the access sought by the user device to the second access network based on the provided context, and the access selection decision is then executed.

Radio communication system, method and arrangement for use in a radio communication system

Methods, apparatus, and systems for measuring, on a per-QoS-class basis, the average number of user devices active on the uplink of a wireless communication system are disclosed. In an exemplary method, a number of mobile terminals with buffered data for transmission to a base station is estimated based on received buffer status reports. An estimated quantity of active mobile terminals is calculated, based on the received buffer status reports and a number of mobile terminals for which a semi-persistent scheduling grant has been granted. In some embodiments, the estimated quantity of active mobile terminals is estimated on a per-traffic-class basis, in which case the technique includes calculating first and second estimated quantities, corresponding to mobile terminals having active data bearers for first and second traffic classes, respectively, based on the received buffer status reports and the number of mobile terminals for which a semi-persistent scheduling grant has been granted.

Method and apparatus for measurement of active user devices per quality-of-service class indicator

Scheduling map(s) are generated and updated for employment in an access division multiplexing (ADM) environment for allocating resource utilization (e.g., use of transmission time intervals) to or between differing radio access technology networks, and particularly to a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and a Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) network. In some example embodiments the scheduling map(s), apparatus, and methods hereof are implemented in a wireless terminal which participates in access division multiplexing between the differing radio access technologies, in other example embodiments the scheduling map(s), apparatus, and methods hereof are implemented in a network node (e.g., eNodeB) of one of the radio access technology networks, e.g., the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

Scheduling for access division multiplexing

Methods and apparatus relate to cellular communications and in particular to a frequency spectrum shared by two cellular networks. An object is flexible utilization of the spectrum. This is achieved by a method where a first of the networks occupies part of the shared spectrum in relation to the traffic load in the first network. The first network informs a second of the networks on the extent the shared spectrum is occupied, for the second network to be free to use the shared spectrum outside the occupied part. A radio resource management unit, a base station controller, and a radio base station are also disclosed. An advantage is that spectrum can be lent from an old system when a new system is introduced.
