A furnace plant including at least one furnace vessel comprising side walls, a bottom and a roof. At least one heater is configured to heat metal in the furnace vessel. A compartment includes sidewalls lined with refractory material. The compartment forms an extension of the furnace vessel. At least one electromagnetic stirrer is arranged outside and adjacent to the compartment. A refractory plate is arranged inside the compartment. The refractory plate includes an upper edge configured to be positioned below a meniscus of molten metal and includes a lower edge positioned spaced apart from a bottom of the compartment. The plate is arranged such that a gap between the plate and a wall of the compartment increases toward the bottom of the compartment.

Device for submerging material into liquid metal by an electromagnetic stirrer

The present invention relates to a device for continuous or semi-continuous casting of a metal material. The device comprises a first arrangement comprising a coil () having an extension around the casting mould () in an area, which is arranged to comprise molten metal material. The coil () is arranged to be fed with alternating current such that a varying magnetic field generated and is applied to the molten metal material in the casting mould (). The device also comprises a second arrangement comprising at least two magnetic poles (), which are provided at opposite sides of the casting mould (). The poles () are arranged to supply a static or periodic low-frequency magnetic field to the molten metal material in the casting area. The poles () comprise at least a portion () which comprises a plurality of material layers which are electrically insulated from each other.

A device for continuous or semi-continuous casting of metal comprising a mould having a number of mould elements () which together form a mould adapted for receiving a liquid metal (), a mould supporting structure () surrounding the mould and mechanically supporting it, and an induction coil () arranged close to the mould for reducing the contact pressure between the melt and the mould. At least one of the mould elements is divided into at least a first () and a second () part arranged so that they are electrically insulated from each other, the first mould element part being arranged before the second mould element part relative to the casting direction and said induction coil is arranged close to the first mould element part ().

Device for casting of metal

A device for continuous or semi-continuous casting of metal has a cooled continuous casting mold assembly and an inductive coil arranged at the top end of the mold assembly. The mold assembly is divided into at least two mold assembly parts separated and electrically insulated from each other by partitions, which are oriented in the casting direction and where each partition is formed with an electrically insulating barrier. Each mold assembly part has a mold part associated with a corresponding mechanically supporting mold back-up structure part, and an electrical conductor, with an electrical conductivity higher than the electrical conductivity of the back-up structure. The conductor is arranged with the mold back-up structure part on the side of the mold back-up structure part facing away from the mold, the outside face.

A device for continuous or semi-continuous casting of metal comprising a cooled mold ( ) and an induction coil ( ) arranged at the top end of the mold. The mold comprises in its top end a plurality of hollow, old segments ( ) separated from each other by partitions ( ), which all comprise an electrically insulating barrier. Both the mold segments and the partitions are oriented essentially in the casting direction. Each hollow top end mold segment comprises a core of a mechanically supporting bar or beam ( ) arranged within the hollow mold segment such that it is surrounded by the hollow mold segment. The core exhibits superior mechanical properties in relation to the mold.

A chill mold for the simultaneous casting of two parallel strands and a magnetic brake which generates at least one static or periodic low frequency magnetic field. The chill mold includes a rectangular casting mold and an inner partition which subdivides the rectangular casting mold into two sub-molds, and the magnetic field acts with essentially the same magnetic field direction across the entire width of the rectangular casting mold and has an essentially symmetrical distribution in both sub-molds. The brake includes a first magnet at a first long side of the rectangular casting mold and a second magnet of opposite polarity at the opposite second long side of the rectangular casting mold. The magnetic material in the first and second magnets is distributed such that both magnets have two magnetic sub-poles of the same polarity arranged adjacent to each other along each of the two long-sides of the rectangular casting mold. Each sub-pole is symmetrically arranged along the long-side of the respective sub-mold.
