A catheter device is disclosed comprising; an elongate sheath () with a lumen and a distal end for positioning at a heart valve (), an embolic protection device () for temporarily positioning in the aortic arch for deflection of embolic debris from the ascending aorta to the descending aorta, said embolic protection device is connectable to a transluminal delivery unit () extending proximally from a connection point (), and having: a frame with a periphery, a blood permeable unit within said periphery for preventing embolic particles from passing therethrough with a blood flow downstream an aortic valve into side vessels of said aortic arch to the brain of a patient, and at least one tissue apposition sustaining unit () extending from said catheter, into said aortic arch, and being attached to said embolic protection device at a sustaining point (), for application of a stabilization force offset to said connection point at said embolic protection device, such as at said periphery, and for providing said stabilization force towards an inner wall of said aortic arch, away from said heart, and in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal extension of said periphery, when said catheter device is positioned in said aortic arch, such that tissue apposition of said periphery to an inner wall of said aortic arch is supported by said force for improving stability and peripheral sealing. In addition related methods are disclosed.

Embolic protection device and method

A collapsible, transluminally deliverable embolic protection device () for temporarily positioning in the aortic arch is disclosed. The device is connectable to a transluminal delivery unit () extending proximally from a connection point (). The device has a frame with a periphery, and a blood permeable unit within said periphery for preventing embolic particles from passing therethrough into side vessels of said aortic arch to the brain of a patient. Further, the device has at least one tissue apposition sustaining unit, not being a delivery shaft of said device, for application of a force offset to said connection point at said device, such as at said periphery, towards an inner wall of said aortic arch when said device is positioned in said aortic arch, such that tissue apposition of said periphery to an inner wall of said aortic arch is supported by said force. In addition related methods are disclosed.

A catheter device for transvascular delivery of a medical device to a cardiac valve region of a patient comprises an elongate sheath with a first lumen, a distal end for positioning at a heart valve, a second lumen that extends parallel to or in the sheath, and an expandable embolic protection filter. The filter is arranged to extend from an orifice of the second lumen and, in the expanded, covers ostia of the side branch vessels in the aortic arch.

Device and method for delivery of medical devices to a cardiac valve

A catheter device is disclosed for transvascular delivery of a medical device to a cardiac valve region of a patient. The catheter device comprises an elongate sheath () with releasable locking members for controllably locking the elongate sheath in a shape at least partly along its length from a relaxed state to a locked state when positioned in relation to a cardiac valve. Furthermore, alignment members () are provided to provide for a desired positioning in relation to the cardiac valve. Embolic protection () is further provided.

Device for delivery of medical devices to a cardiac valve

A method of delivering a embolic protection unit to the aorta arch of a patient. The method comprising, introducing a catheter from brachiocephalic artery or through an incision in a wall of the ascending aorta, the catheter comprising an embolic protection unit having an off-center connection point. Advancing the embolic protection unit in a downstream direction from the catheter. Expanding the embolic protection unit in the aorta arch to cover said ostia. Delivering a medical device into the ascending aorta while the embolic protection unit is hold by the catheter covering the ostia.
