An inhaler comprising a tubular body () defining a tubular air flow passage with a bendable section, preferably a U-shaped section comprising peripherally extending corrugations and means for supplying a dose of at least one active inhalable, particulate substance into the flow passage and a cap (). According to the invention the dose of the at least one active, inhalable particulate substance is placed in the cap () to be released from said cap substantially at the beginning of the corrugations in the intake direction.

A device for applying a powdered or particulate substance to a mucous membrane in a nostril comprises a tubular body ( ) similar to a drinking straw. The tubular body has opposite end parts forming a mouthpiece ( ) and a nasal piece ( ) to be inserted between the lips and into the nostril, respectively, of a user. The mouthpiece ( ) and the nasal piece ( ) are interconnected by a bent or a bendable, preferably corrugated part ( ). A dose of a powdered or particulate substance arranged within the tubular body ( ) is transferred to the nostril when the user blows into the mouthpiece ( ). A part of the mouthpiece is preferably deflated or compresses between a pair of fingers ( ) of the user. The compressed part ( ) is released when the user has started to blow forcefully into the compressed mouthpiece part which is thereby inflated. It has been found that the user will automatically close the connection between the nostrils and the throat by the uvula when blowing.

An inhaler comprises a tubular body in which an air flow passage is defined. A single dose of an active, inhalable, particulate substance is arranged within the air flow passage and is sealed or closed in relation to the ambient atmosphere by closure means, such as removable caps, a section of the flow passage extending from a free mouthpiece end of the tubular body along a major part of the total length of the flow passage is preferable 7-35 mm.sup.2, for example about 20 mm.sup.2. The inhaler may be adapted to be used only once, and the tubular body of the inhaler may be a length of a simple tube similar to a drinking straw.
