Implementations generally relate to locking a camera onto a sub-region to capture images of the sub-region with a moving camera. In some implementations, a method includes determining a first region in a scene detected by a camera while the camera is in a first physical position. The method further includes receiving user input to target a sub-region within the first capture region of the scene and capturing the first image of the sub-region while the camera is in the first physical position. The first image is displayed in a fixed orientation on a preview portion of a display screen. The camera is moved to a second physical position and a second capture region of the scene is detected. The method further includes capturing a second image is of the sub-region and displaying it in the fixed orientation on the preview portion of the display screen. The second image is effective to inform a user of whether capture of the sub-region is altered by camera movement.

Methods, devices, and systems for reprofiling a surface of a cornea of an eye ablate a portion of the cornea to create an ablation zone with an optically correct central optical zone disposed in a central portion of the cornea, and a blend zone disposed peripherally to the central optical zone and at least partially within an optical zone of the eye. The blend zone can have an optical power that gradually diminishes with increasing radius from the central optical zone.

A method includes obtaining a rank position map, the rank position map specifying, for a plurality of rank positions, an expected utility rate for a document presented at particular rank positions as a search result; determining an expected utility rate, for a particular document, based on the obtained rank position map, and based on a quantity of times that the particular document was presented as a search result at particular rank positions; determining an actual utility rate for the particular document based on an actual quantity of selections of the particular document, and based on a total quantity of times that the particular document was presented as a search result; calculating a correction factor, for the particular document, based on the determined expected utility rate and the determined actual utility rate; and adjusting a score of the particular document based on the correction factor.

One of the methods includes the actions of obtaining a collection of search queries; for each query in the collection of search queries, determining whether other queries in the collection of search queries are refinements of the query, wherein the refinements of each query include the query terms and one or more additional terms not found in the query; determining a similarity between query pairs from the collection, wherein the similarity between a query pair is determined using the additional query terms from the refinements of the respective search queries of the query pair; obtaining a classified sample group of search queries using a plurality of category labels; and classifying each other search query of the collection of search queries having one or more refinements.

Predicting data for document attributes based on aggregated data for repeated URL patterns

Devices systems, and methods can characterize an optical surface of an object. A wavefront sensor system focuses light energy propagating from the object to form a pattern on a detector. The system maps the pattern to an array with a transform function such as a Fourier transform. The values of array correspond to characteristic locations and signals in a transform space, for example an intensity of spatial frequency signals in frequency space. The characteristic location and intensity of these signals in transform space are used to measure the optical surface. For example, a characteristic frequency of a spatial frequency intensity peak in Fourier transform space can be used to estimate the location of spots on the detector. Alternatively, the characteristics can be used to the measure sphere, cylinder and axis of a wavefront, wavefront elevation maps and point spread functions, often without locating positions of individual spots on the detector.

A method of reconstructing optical tissues an eye comprises transmitting an image through the optical tissues of the eye. The surface gradients from the transmitted image are measured across the optical tissues of the eye. A Fourier transform algorithm is applied to the surface gradients to reconstruct an optical surface model that corresponds to the optical tissues of the eye.

Spatial frequency wavefront sensor system and method

Systems and methods analyze, diagnose, and/or treat a patient's eye using modified forms of the point spread function ('PSF') tailored to the vision system. Factors that alter perception of visual aberrations can be included and/or volumetric point spread functions calculated, often using point spread function calculations throughout a range of optical distances to more fully indicate the variation in visual perception of optics at different distances. A variety of visual affects of the human optical system can be simulated, analyzed, and modeled, including: single versus multiple wavelength sources, chromatic aberrations, retinal resolution, wavelength-dependent visual response, Stiles-Crawford effects, and/or non-linearity of retinal response. The perceived point spread function can offer objective confirmation of the patient's visual perception, allow a treating physician to see a closer approximation of what the patient sees, indicate the scale and significance of wavefront aberrations, and/or show which aberrations affect vision and which do not.
