A radio base station and a method therein for scheduling an uplink radio resource to a first user equipment in a wireless communication system which employs CDMA are provided. The method includes measuring an Interference Suppression (IS) gain for each user equipment in a set of user equipments currently being served by the radio base station. The method further includes determining a user constellation pertaining to information regarding the different user equipments in the set of user equipments and their respective bitrates, and updating a table of IS gains with the measured IS gain in bins corresponding to the determined user constellation. The method further includes predicting a load based on at least the updated table, and scheduling the uplink radio resource to the first user equipment at least partly based on the predicted load.

Uplink scheduling when using interference suppression

The invention relates to a method and device () of controlling bit rate of a terminal () included in a group of terminals. To this end, a method is provided comprising the steps of acquiring a predetermined QoS parameter for the terminal, which parameter stipulates target QoS to be given to the terminal relative to other terminals in the group, and acquiring either one or both of (a) at least one measure of a channel condition of the terminal and (b) at least one capacity measure of the terminal. Further, the method comprises the step of controlling the bit rate of the terminal on the basis of a reference weighting factor created by a combination of the acquired predetermined QoS parameter, the acquired at least one measure of a channel condition of the terminal and/or the acquired at least one capacity measure of the terminal.

Measurement based QoS adaptation

In a network () with a plurality of cells (), there may be interference couplings among the cells (). This may be particularly true for heterogeneous networks (). For radio resource scheduling in such network (), a semi-decentralized scheduling is proposed in which radio resource scheduling issue is reformulated as load scheduling issue. In the proposed semi-decentralized scheduling, portions of the total load or available headroom are centrally allocated to each local node () subject to the stability of the network (). At each local node (), radio resources are granted to users () of that local node () subject to the portion of the load or headroom allocated to that local node ().

Semi-decentralized scheduling in a wireless network

A method is provided for congestion control in a network node () of a communication network. The network node handles a plurality of data connections for conveying data packets travelling between a core side and a terminal side of the communication network. The method is performed in the network node and comprises detecting () a condition indicative of a congestion for any of the data connections, selecting (), among the data connections, a data connection (RAB) for which a bit-rate reduction is to be caused, and determining () a number (X) of data packets to be discarded for the selected data connection. The determined number depends on a time-integrated difference between experienced and targeted bit-rates for the selected data connection. Then, the reduction of the bit-rate is initiated () for the selected data connection by causing discarding of the determined number of data packets.

Adaptive relative bitrate manager for TCP depending flow control

A method is provided for congestion control in a network node () of a communication network (). The network node handles a plurality of data connections (DC; RAB) for conveying data between a first side and a second side of the communication network. The congestion control involves associating the data connections with respective target weights (w; k=1-N) for Quality-of-Service (QoS) bit-rate differentiation. The method comprises the following steps, performed in the network node. Experienced bit-rates (r=1-N) are obtained () for the data connections (DC; RAB 1-N). For each data connection (DC; RAB i), a time integrated difference is determined () between the data connection's targeted bit-rate according to its target weight (w), and its experienced bit-rate (r). Then, for each data connection, an adjusted weight (w') for QoS bit-rate differentiation is calculated () based on the determined time integrated difference and the target weight (w). The adjusted weights (w&#x2032;; k=1-N) are used for the congestion control of the data connections.

Network congestion control with adaptive QoS bit-rate differentiation

This disclosure relates to a Radio Network Controller, RNC, a base station, and to methods therein. By extracting information from one or more flows of Protocol Data Units, PDUs, which information is accessible on a certain protocol layer only, congestion control is enabled and performed on another protocol layer based on said information. The present disclosure avoids that inappropriate PDUs are discarded, which else would inappropriately affect the user performance.

Flow based packet manipulation congestion control

A pump system that includes a pump, an injector and a regulator with a calculation unit. The regulator controls the pump to pump a liquid through a hose to the injector which opens and closes in response to an injector control signal, the time for an opening and closing cycle being called injector cycle and designated T, and the injector's open period being designated &#x3b3;. The injector has a pressure sensor to measure the pressure of the liquid in the injector and to deliver to the calculation unit a pressure sensor signal representing the pressure amplitude in the injector. A radio access network () comprises a radio network controller () and a radio base station (). The radio network controller () is configured to perform admission control and to allocate resources of a cell. The radio base station () is configured to determine load/congestion on a high speed shared channel and to generate an indication of the load/congestion for transmission to the radio network controller. In some example embodiments and modes, at least one of the radio network controller and the radio base station is configured to allocate at least some of the resources for the high speed shared channel to support a guaranteed service and also to allocate at least some resources to support a non-guaranteed service. In some example implementations of this aspect, a user(s) of the non-guaranteed service is permitted to use the resources up to a reserved resource level of resources. According to another non-limiting aspect of the technology, the radio base station is further configured to generate a recommended action for dealing with the load/congestion.

Congestion/load indication for high speed packet access

A method may include determining whether a discrepancy exists between scheduling headroom computable by a first device and scheduling headroom computable by a second device, determining one or more load measurements that the second device bases its computation of the scheduling headroom if it is determined that the discrepancy exists, modifying the one or more load measurements, and calculating the scheduling headroom based on the modified one or more load measurements.

Uplink transmit power control

A cellular radio communication system includes a first serving cell and a second non-serving cell. A mobile radio is currently served by a first base station in the first cell. An uplink radio transmission from the mobile radio will cause or causes inter-cell interference in the second non-serving cell. Accordingly, an estimate is made of the inter-cell interference in the second non-serving cell associated with the mobile radio's uplink transmission. If the estimated inter-cell interference in the second non-serving cell exceeds a predetermined threshold, then control is performed so that the inter-cell interference in the second non-serving cell is limited, e.g., by managing radio resources so that the estimated inter-cell interference in the second non-serving cell is or becomes less than the predetermined threshold.
