A stent graft () for treating Type-A dissections in the ascending aorta () is provided with a plurality of diameter reducing suture loops (-) operable to constrain the stent graft during deployment thereof in a patient's aorta. The diameter reducing loops (-) allow the stent graft () to be partially deployed, in such a manner that its location can be precisely adjusted in the patient's lumen. In this manner, the stent graft can be placed just by the coronary arteries () with confidence that these will not be blocked. The stent graft () is also provided with proximal and distal bare stents () for anchoring purposes.

Stent graft and introducer assembly

An introducer for deploying an implantable medical device such as a stent (), stent graft () or other similar device is provided with an outer sheath () which is provided with a series of internally longitudinally extending channels () and interdigitating protrusions () extending therein. At least on stent ring () of the medical device is provided with one or more barbs () which point radially outwardly of the device, including when this is compressed onto the introducer. The barbs () lie within the channels () which the remainder of the medical device is retained in its compressed form by the elongate protrusions (). The channels () allow for the provision of relatively stiff barbs (). The barbs () can be better suited to ensuring the correct placement of the medical device than flexible barb arrangements.

Introducer assembly and implantable medical device

A prosthesis deployment device having a elongate catheter body and a trigger wire guide concentric about the elongate catheter body where the trigger wire guide comprises three trigger wire lumens separate and apart from a guide wire lumen, with three trigger wires being at least partially disposed in the three trigger wire lumens and configured to engage a portion of a prosthesis to retain the prosthesis adjacent to the trigger wire guide.

Trigger wire system

A trigger wire guide for a prosthesis deployment device. The prosthesis deployment device has a proximal end extending to a proximal nose cone dilator and having a trigger wire or wires and trigger wire release mechanism to retain the proximal end of a prosthesis adjacent the nose cone dilator. The trigger wire guide retains the trigger wire or wires to prevent fouling of the trigger wire with a prosthesis when the prosthesis is carried on the deployment device. The guide can be crimped or soldered to a guide wire catheter or concentric with it.

A stent graft deployment apparatus () which has a deployment catheter () with a proximal end () to be introduced into a patient and a distal end () to remain outside a patient and at a proximal end thereof a region to contain a stent graft (). A sheath () extends over and covers the stent graft and can be moved to expose the stent graft to enable deployment of the stent graft. A nose cone dilator () is positioned at the proximal end of the deployment catheter and can be curved. A capsule () provides a distal retention arrangement for the stent graft.

Thoracic introducer

A thoracic stent graft () has a tubular bio-compatible graft material body () with a lumen therethrough with a proximal end () and a distal end (). There is a sealing stent () at the proximal end of the tubular body with an anchoring device which may be a barb () affixed to the sealing stent. A distal attachment stent () with barbs () can be affixed to and extend from the distal end () of the graft material body. Intermediate stents () are provided along the length of the body. The thoracic stent graft can be in one or two portions.
