A fluid ejection controller interface includes input logic to receive control data packets and a first clock signal, each control data packet including a set of primitive data bits and a set of random bits, wherein the input logic identifies the random bits in the received control data packets to facilitate the creation of modified control data packets. The fluid ejection controller interface includes a clock signal generator to generate a second clock signal that is different than the first clock signal, and output logic to receive the modified control data packets, and output the modified control data packets to a fluid ejection controller of a fluid ejection device based on the second clock signal.

Identifying random bits in control data packets

In some examples, a controller includes an interface to receive an indication based on an electrical current through a device, and a processor to send control data to the device to operate the device, detect a measurement based on the indication that is responsive to an operation of the device according to the control data, and determine whether an issue exists in the device responsive to determining whether the measurement satisfies an expected property based on the control data.

An integrated circuit to drive a plurality of fluid actuation devices includes a plurality of first non-volatile memory cells and control logic. Each first non-volatile memory cell stores a customization bit. The control logic configures an operation of the integrated circuit based on the customization bits.

An integrated circuit includes thermal tracking logic, control logic, and an output interface. The thermal tracking logic determines a temperature of a fluid ejection die. The control logic defines an emulated parameter of the fluid ejection die as a function of the temperature of the fluid ejection die. The output interface outputs the emulated parameter to a printer system based on the function and the temperature of the fluid ejection die.

In some examples, a fluid dispensing device component includes a plurality of fluidic dies each comprising a memory, a plurality of control inputs to provide respective control information to respective fluidic dies of the plurality of fluidic dies, and a data bus connected to the plurality of fluidic dies, the data bus to provide data of the memories of the plurality of fluidic dies to an output of the fluid dispensing device component.

A communicating print component a print head comprising a number of memory bits and a single lane analog bus conductively coupling the number of memory bits to a pad located on the exterior of the print head. The pad is to transmit an electrical signal from the number of memory bits, wherein the electrical signal indicates a combination of all selected bits of the number of memory bits.

Examples of an electronic device are described. In some examples, the electronic device includes a first shared line of a plurality of first contacts to respectively connect to a plurality of integrated circuits, a plurality of second lines of respective second contacts to respectively connect to the plurality of integrated circuits, and a third shared line of a plurality of third contacts to respectively connect to the plurality of integrated circuits. In some examples, the electronic device includes circuitry to determine whether one of the third contacts is connected to an integrated circuit based on a state of the first shared line and a state of one of the second lines that is associated with the one of the third contacts.

In some examples, a fluid dispensing device includes a reservoir containing a fluid, fluidic actuators, and an interface to receive a data packet comprising information to control activation of the fluidic actuators, the data packet comprising a random number generated by a random number generator.

Examples associated with firmware encryption are described. One example device firmware includes a base module. The base module controls a base function of the device. The device firmware also includes a first encrypted module that modifies a first function of the device. The first encrypted module is inactive until decrypted. A decryption module decrypts the first module using a first encryption key and controls activation of the first encrypted module.

The present subject matter relates to an integrated circuit. The integrated circuit includes a first metal layer and a second metal layer capacitively coupled to the first metal layer through a dielectric layer. Further, the second metal layer includes an electron leakage path to provide for leakage of charge from the second metal layer in a predetermined leak time period.

A print substance cartridge for a printing device includes a supply of print substance for the printing device, a non-volatile memory, and logic. The memory store authentication values by which the print substance cartridge is authenticated by the printing device, and/or a cryptographic key from which authentication values are able to be generated within the print substance cartridge. The memory stores hash values corresponding to authentication values and by which the authentication values are verified by the printing device. The logic is to, in response to a request from the printing device for an authentication value, provide the requested authentication value to the printing device. The logic is to, in response to a request from the printing device for the hash value corresponding to the authentication value, provide the hash value corresponding to the authentication value to the printing device.

Replaceable item authentication

Hardware circuitry, in response to receiving a request for an authentication value of a plurality of authentication values of a replaceable item from a host device to which the replaceable item has been connected, determines that the authentication value was not previously sent. The circuitry responsively determines that the replaceable item previously sent a maximum number of unique authentication values of the authentication values. The maximum number of unique authentication values is less than a total number of the authentication values. The circuitry responsively sends the authentication value to the host device. The circuitry, once the authentication value has been sent or will have been sent to the host device, determines that the maximum number of unique authentication values has now been sent, and in response prohibits the authentication values that have not been sent from being sent later.
