An imaging system includes: an imaging unit that images a subject; and a control unit that enables the imaging unit to perform pre-imaging one or more times, and main imaging one or more times following the pre-imaging; the control unit has an image generating portion that generates a subject image based on one or more taken images in each of the pre-imaging and the main imaging, an interface portion that displays the subject image and accepts a user input for setting at least a region-of-interest, of the region-of-interest and a non-region-of-interest of the subject image, a region setting portion as defined herein, an SN ratio calculating portion as defined herein, and a total light exposure time calculating portion as defined herein; and the control unit enables the imaging unit to perform the main imaging based on the total light exposure time.

Electrophoresis gel cassette

The invention relates to a method to produce gels for electrophoresis, wherein at least two monomer solutions are printed in a pattern on a substrate and the printed substrate is exposed to electromagnetic or ionising radiation so as to initiate polymerisation. The gels are useful for electrophoretic separation of proteins, peptides and/or nucleic acids.

The present invention relates to a method of scanning an electrophoretic gel after electrophoresis of fluorescence labelled samples, comprising inserting the gel into a separate low fluorescent scanning unit, in the shape of a gel folder or a frame, and scanning the gel inside the gel folder or frame with a fluorescence scanner. Any gel may be scanned but if the gel is provided with a gel adherent backing the backing is first removed in a first step. The gel folder may be sealed after scanning for future analysis of the gel. The invention also relates to gel folders and frames as well as a kit with these and a hydrogel. The invention also relates to the use of these for scanning of electrophoretic gels.
