A vehicle control system includes at least one detection device configured to capture detection data. The system further includes a controller that identifies a travel path of the vehicle extending from a current position to a target position of the vehicle. In response to the travel path, the controller calculates a travel zone occupied by the vehicle traversing the travel path and determines at least one viewing zone proximate to the travel zone. The controller further determines a location of a user based on the detection data and controls a navigation routine of the vehicle along the travel path in response to a location of the user relative to the at least one viewing zone.

System and method for remote vehicle control and pedestrian user coaching

Electrified vehicles are coupled together by a towing device for in-flight energy transfer. A remote-controlled parking system collects images from vehicle-mounted cameras to produce a 360° overhead live streaming image that is displayed on a smartphone linked to a vehicle controller. A user interface (UI) on the smartphone accepts a first touch from the user on the streaming image showing the vehicles at a starting position in order to specify a maneuver endpoint. The controller calculates a sequence of steering actions to create a path to the endpoint. The UI displays the calculate path as an overlay on the live image. The UI generates an activation signal in response to a second touch input on the touchscreen, and forwards the activation signal to the vehicle controller during the second touch input to move the vehicles according to the actuator commands only while the user maintains the second touch input.

Remote parking control for vehicles coupled in a towed recharging arrangement

Method and apparatus are disclosed for initiation of vehicle remote park-assist with key fob. An example vehicle includes a cabin, a human-machine interface (HMI) unit located in the cabin, and a receiver-transceiver module. The receiver-transceiver module is configured to receive a return signal including a distance indicator from a key fob and a remote park-assist (RePA) signal. The example vehicle also includes an autonomy unit configured to perform RePA based on the RePA signal. The example vehicle also includes a controller configured to receive, via the HMI unit, selections to activate RePA and utilize the key fob for transmitting the RePA signal and determine, based on the distance indicator, whether the key fob is in the cabin. The controller also is configured to, responsive to determining that the key fob is in the cabin, prevent the autonomy unit from performing RePA.

The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for receiving from a mobile device that is optically tethered to a vehicle for remote driver assistance, an estimate of a speed of the vehicle, an orientation of the vehicle and a trajectory of the vehicle, comparing the estimate of the speed, orientation and trajectory received from the vehicle with a measured speed determined by one or more vehicle sensors, and preventing vehicle motion if a threshold difference from the comparison is exceeded. Another method is directed to determining at a mobile device an estimate of a speed of a vehicle, an orientation of the vehicle, a trajectory of the vehicle and a time stamp, transmitting the data to the vehicle, and untethering from optical tethering if the data are outside of a threshold or if the data indicate that the mobile device is tethered to an unintended vehicle.

A computer includes a processor and a memory, the memory storing instructions executable by the processor to, heat a passenger cabin of a vehicle, actuate a thermal sensor to collect temperature data in the passenger cabin, identify a surface in the passenger cabin that has a temperature below a temperature threshold, and actuate one or more components to sanitize the identified surface.

Cloud-based communication management is provided. Status information regarding vehicles is maintained to a non-volatile storage. A request intended to be performed by one of the vehicles is received to a cloud server over a communications network from a requesting device. Responsive to the request being performable by a mobile edge computing (MEC) device in a cell of the communications network instead of the one of the vehicles, the request is sent by the cloud server to the MEC device to be processed by the MEC device instead of being performed by the one of the vehicles.

Method and apparatus are disclosed for mobile device tethering for a remote parking assist system of a vehicle. A vehicle includes a camera and a body control module. The body control module sends an instruction to a mobile device and captures, with the camera, an image of the mobile device. The body control module also analyzes the image to determine an initial location of the mobile device relative to the vehicle, and based on the initial location, performs dead reckoning on the mobile device to track the mobile device. When the mobile device is within a threshold distance, the body control module enables autonomous parking.

The system may determine, based on the first user engagement indicator that first user engagement meets a threshold, and determine, based on the second user engagement indicator that second user engagement meets a threshold. Responsive to determining user engagement with the trailer parking procedure, the processor may cause a vehicle controller to operate the vehicle to park a trailer pivotably disposed with the vehicle based on the first curvature command, the first user engagement indicator, and the second user engagement indicator, to complete a remote trailer parking operation.

The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for receiving proximity characteristics at a nomadic device, the proximity characteristics including mapped obstruction data identifying locations of one or more obstructions of an area surrounding a vehicle; calculating at last one unobstructed pose orientations for establishing a secure connection between the nomadic device and the vehicle based on the proximity characteristics, the unobstructed pose orientation determined at least in part on the mapped obstruction data; and displaying the unobstructed pose orientation on the nomadic device within an array of augmented reality pose orientations on the nomadic device. In some embodiments, the systems and methods include displaying an interactive overlay as a direction to a user of the nomadic device, the interactive overlay coaching the user to locate to the at least one unobstructive pose orientation.

Systems and methods to compute a vehicle dynamic pose for augmented reality tracking

Upon report of an emergency incident, a system may dispatch one or more initial entities to respond to the incident and model an initial scene, based on the reported data. The system may further determine the availability of travel data, request available travel data and advise an entity of path feasibility. The system also determines availability of onsite data covering one or more locations associated with the incident and requests available onsite data. This data is used to update the scene model and determine additional necessary dispatches, data gathering, or both. Until additional data is determined to be no longer needed, the processor is configured to continue to: dispatch entities based on the updated scene model; determine the availability of additional onsite desired based on the updated scene model; request the new onsite data; and update the scene model based on any onsite data received responsive to any additional requests.

Methods and apparatuses for dynamic cloud-based vehicle dispatch

A computer includes a processor and a memory, the memory storing instructions executable by the processor to heat a passenger cabin of a vehicle and to actuate a vehicle security subsystem to prevent entry into the vehicle upon initiation of a cabin sanitizing operation, wherein the sanitizing operation includes actuating a heater to heat the passenger cabin above a temperature threshold.

A vehicle control system includes at least one detection device configured to capture detection data and a controller. The controller identifies a parking space for a vehicle in an operating area based on the detection data and identifies a travel path of the vehicle from a current position to a target position aligning the vehicle with the parking space. In response to the travel path, the controller calculates a travel zone occupied by the vehicle traversing the travel path and determines at least one viewing zone proximate to the travel zone. The controller further determines a location of a user based on the detection data and controls a navigation routine of the vehicle along the travel path in response to the location of the user relative to the at least one viewing zone.

Remote park-assist user pedestrian location coaching and enforcement

A system for calibrating a backup assist system for a trailer attached to a vehicle is provided which includes a hitch sensor continuously measuring a hitch angle between the vehicle and the trailer.
