A duct for cooling multiple components in a processor-based device. The duct has an inlet cooling duct section for a cooling airflow focused toward a processor region. The duct also has at least one exit cooling duct section for the cooling airflow extending from the inlet cooling duct section and focused toward a component region, wherein the cooling airflow is successively transportable through the processor region followed by the component region. A processor-based system having a focused cooling duct. The focused cooling duct comprises an inlet cooling duct section for a cooling airflow having a fan receptacle, and a plurality of exit cooling duct sections for the cooling airflow extending from the inlet cooling duct section and focused toward component regions, wherein the cooling airflow is successively transportable through the inlet cooling duct section followed by the plurality of exit cooling duct sections. The processor-based system also comprises a plurality of components disposed in the component regions.

Duct for cooling multiple components in a processor-based device

A system and method for stabilizing a mating is provided. One embodiment comprises an apparatus for stabilizing a mating between signal connectors. The apparatus comprises a body operable to be coupled to a unit comprising a first signal connector, said body forming an aperture operable to receive at least a portion of a surface to which a second signal connector is coupled, wherein said apparatus restrains movement of the at least a portion of the surface received by the aperture when the first signal connector and the second signal connector are mated.

System and method for stabilizing a mating

A computer according to a preferred embodiment of the invention may have a power supply mounted therein without the use of tool-requiring fasteners. A chassis of the computer may have a chassis hook and either a stop or an elastic catch. A power supply of the computer may have a power supply hook and either an elastic catch or a stop. When the power supply is mounted to the chassis, the power supply hook engages the chassis hook, and the elastic catch engages the stop in a manner that prevents the power supply hook from disengaging from the chassis hook.

Technique for mounting a power supply in a computer

A system and method that enables installation of media devices in a chassis. The chassis has an internal cavity defined by a plurality of walls. Additionally, a first media device has a first external width dimension and a second media device has a second external width dimension. The second external width dimension is different than the first external width dimension. A plurality of mounting features are connected to the plurality of walls to hold the first media device and the second media device in a plurality of orientations relative to the chassis.

Chassis system that permits installation of media devices in selected orientations

A compact retractable label assembly includes a flexible label tongue and a guide bracket for receiving the label tongue. The guide bracket is adapted to mount to the inside of an enclosure surface such that the label tongue may be pulled from a mouth of the bracket to the outside of the enclosure surface. The guide bracket has a curved profile so that the label tongue bends when it is pushed inside the enclosure. The bend in the excursion path of the label tongue preserves space inside the enclosure.

An apparatus for flame containment in electronic devices is provided. One embodiment comprises an apparatus for preventing flames from exiting an electronic device via at least one air vent structure of the electronic device. The apparatus comprises a frame and a plurality of louvers coupled to the frame, the plurality of louvers being oriented so as to prevent flames from exiting the electronic device via the at least one air vent structure when the apparatus is situated adjacent to the at least one air vent structure.

Apparatus for flame containment in electronic devices

An EMI cover for a media drive housing. The cover includes a conductive surface adapted to cover one end of the housing. Conductive flanges are disposed along the sides of the surface. A first flange hingingly engages the housing. A second flange catchingly engages the housing. Attachment and removal of the cover may be achieved without the use of fasteners or tools. Protrusions disposed along the periphery of the cover enhance EMI blocking characteristics of the cover. A raised section of one of the flanges may extend over a portion of the housing to form an EMI-efficient cable management port.

Removable EMI cover for a media drive housing

A heat sink retaining bracket having a first surface for engaging a heat sink and a second surface for engaging a chassis wall or other substantially rigid support member. The first surface may include an opening having a rim around its periphery. The rim may be adapted to engaged the top and sides of the heat sink such that sideways and upward translational movements are restrained. Air may pass through the opening as it enters or exits the heat sink so that the cooling efficiency of the heat sink is not substantially impaired by the bracket. The second surface may be adapted to engaged the chassis wall or support member using a hook-and-slot arrangement and a fastener or fasteners. In one embodiment, the fastener or fasteners may be applied in a compression mode. In another embodiment, the fastener or fasteners may be applied in a tension mode.
