The invention relates to a method for the weight-accurate filling of ingot molds in a non-iron casting machine, e.g. a copper anode casting machine or a zinc anode casting machine, which is configured in the form of casting wheels that are use for production in a fully mechanized casting operation and are provided with the ingot molds. The aim of the invention is to obtain the desired precise-weight quality of a piece and exact plane parallelism of the bordering surfaces thereof. Said aim is achieved by carrying out the following steps: first, a liquid metal is introduced into an intermediate trough (') at a regulated mass flow rate, the continuous dynamic weight increase being simultaneously determined; second, liquid metal is fed into a dosing trough (&#x2032;) which is located on each side of the intermediate trough (&#x2032;) by alternately tilting the intermediate trough (&#x2032;) on one side followed by the other. After filling the first dosing trough (), the intermediate trough () is tilted in the direction of the second dosing trough (&#x2032;) while the mass of an anode is cast from the first filled dosing trough into one of the ingot molds (&#x2032;) that are arranged on the casting wheel (&#x2032;) by means of a controlled tilting movement. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out the inventive method.

Method and device for the weight-controlled filling of ingot molds in non-iron casting machines

The apparatus includes a spray chamber having a transport device for positioning a billet adjacent a nozzle for spraying a stream of molten metal onto the surface of the billet. The billet is engaged by a tandem arrangement of holding devices which are attached to driven ring gears. With the holding devices engaging the billet rotation of the ring gears rotates the billet about its longitudinal axis as the billet is sprayed with molten metal from the nozzle. As the billet is rotated it is also moved longitudinally by servo-cylinders attached to the ring gears. The servo-cylinders advance and retract in sequence as the ring gears rotate to generate combined longitudinal and rotational movement of the billet adjacent the nozzle. Thus a uniform layer of metal is deposited over length of the billet to form a round billet exclusively by spray-casting.

Method of and apparatus for spraycasting

A process and apparatus for forming axially symmetrical bodies from molten metal droplets, where the droplets solidify to form the body on a rotating base, with the base moved in an extraction direction away from a spray plane of the metal droplets. The base is moved, the movement of the base and/or the quantitative flow of the metal droplets is controlled by a controller that communicates with a transmitter-receiver, preferably optical, that determines the position of the spray plane.
