A friction clutch for a transmission of a motor vehicle generally will have a clutch disc, and the clutch disc will be provided with friction linings for engaging the friction clutch with a rotating engine flywheel. The friction rings can be provided, on both surfaces thereof with trough-shaped depressions, to reduce the weight of the clutch disc. The trough-shaped depressions can essentially be rectangular or square, with rounded corners and with connecting surfaces which are steeply diagonal, or curved with a large radius of curvature.

Friction clutch for a transmission of a motor vehicle and a friction

To enable prescribed functional values of pressure plate units of motor vehicle friction clutches to be observed with smaller tolerances than hitherto, it is proposed that a housing-spring component initially be pre-assembled from clutch housing (1) and diaphragm spring (7) and that this component be measured together with a master pressing plate. Geometry (diameter 25 and axial height 27) which is optimum for minimum tolerances of a contact bevel 15 is calculated by means of the measured result, and a pressing plate (13) with this bevel geometry is produced. The measured spring-housing component is finally assembled together with this specially produced pressing palte 913).

Method of assembling pressure plate units of motor vehicle friction

The invention relates to the construction of friction rings for clutch discs which peripherally have a substantially uniform material thickness and, in the region of the riveting, have groove-shaped, substantially radially extending indentations which are open to the front side, project on the rear side and rest on the wave crests of the lining carriers.

Clutch disc

The invention relates to the guidance of the hub (23) of a clutch disc (13) of a friction clutch (1), independently of the splining (27) of the gear shaft (29). The guidance of the clutch disc (13) takes place through a bearing (41) which supports itself for the one part on the hub (23) of the clutch disc (13) and for the other part on a component of the friction clutch (1). Due to this arrangement a satisfactory centering of the clutch disc (13) is guaranteed, the pilot bearing for the guidance of the gear shaft can be eliminated and the fitting of clutch and gear on the internal combustion engine is substantially facilitated.

Hub guidance for friction clutch

In a clutch unit of the diaphragm spring type a support ring is positioned between a clutch cover and a diaphragm spring. The diaphragm spring is fastened to the clutch cover by noses of the diaphragm spring which encompass the support ring on the one hand and by projections of the clutch cover which also encompass the support ring on the other hand. The noses are accommodated by apertures of the clutch cover and the projections are accommodated by openings of the diaphragm spring. The support ring is an open support ring so that it can be inserted in radially outward direction between the diaphragm spring and the projections on the one hand and the clutch cover and the noses on the other hand.

Clutch unit of the diaphragm spring type

The pressure plate for a motor vehicle friction clutch comprises a clutch cover, a non-rotatable but axially displaceable presser plate and a diaphragm spring which is supported in the region of its external circumference on the presser plate and on a smaller diameter on the clutch cover. Securing elements retained on the clutch cover pass through openings of the diaphragm spring and hold the diaphragm spring between the two wire rings, of which the wire ring placed on the side of the presser plate is axially undulated. The regions of the wire ring which form undulation crests in relation to the diaphragm spring extend below the support faces of the securing elements. A projection is formed by bending or as additional part on the wire ring and fixes the wire ring non-rotatably.

Pressure plate for a motor vehicle friction clutch

In a pressed-type clutch for a motor vehicle the clutch disc with its friction linings is located axially between a pressure plate which is nearer to the driving disc and an anti-pressure plate which is more remote from the driving disc. The pressure plate is axially movable with respect to the driving disc and connected therewith for common rotation. The anti-pressure plate is stationary with respect to the driving disc. A spring force transmitting structure is fixed to the pressure plate and has a bottom on the side of the anti-pressure plate which is remote from the driving disc. A diaphragm spring is located between the anti-pressure plate and the bottom of the spring force transmitting structure. The clutch release bearing is moved into engagement with the tongues of the diaphragm spring and towards the driving disc in view of clutch disengagement.

Clutch for motor vehicles

In a multiple disk clutch, a first clutch disk is located between a flywheel which forms a counter-pressure plate and an intermediate plate and a second clutch disk is located between the intermediate plate, on the opposite side from the first clutch disk, and a pressure plate. The two clutch disks are attached to an output shaft so they rotate with but are axially slidable relative to the shaft. A spring acting on the intermediate plate lifts the intermediate plate when the clutch is disengaged. A lifting distance limitation device is associated with the intermediate plate and limits its lifting distance. The limitation device includes a self-acting readjustment device which readjusts the lifting distance as a function of the wear on the friction linings of the first clutch disk. A spring member extends between the intermediate plate and the pressure plate and acts on the intermediate plate in the engagement direction when the clutch is being engaged.

Multiple disk clutch with spring control lift

In a multiple disk clutch, a first clutch disk is located between a flywheel which forms a counter-pressure plate and an intermediate plate and a second clutch disk is located between the intermediate plate, on the opposite side from the first clutch disk, and a pressure-plate. The two clutch disks are attached to an output shaft so that they rotate with but are axially slidable relative to the shaft. The intermediate plate has balance edges each supporting a two-arm lever approximately at its center. The two-arm levers are disposed in planes approximately parallel to the clutch disks and they are arranged to pivot on the intermediate plate about an axis extending radially of the axis of rotation of the clutch. One arm of each lever is connected by a swivel joint to the clutch housing and the other arm is connected by a swivel joint to the pressure plate. A lifting spring prestresses the intermediate plate toward the pressure plate.
