Products which are produced by reaction of diisocyanates with di- or polyhydric alcohols and/or with one or more mono- and/or diethers of such alcohols and subsequent reaction with organic amines containing two or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups and subsequent blocking of free isocyanate groups are suitable for the finishing of fiber materials, in particular in the form of aqueous dispersions as extenders for use in combination with polymers containing perfluoroalkyl groups for the oil-, water- and soil-repellent finishing of fiber materials.

Creases with excellent resistance to washing processes can be produced in 30 to 100% by weight wool fabrics by means of a specific process. The fabrics are preferably in the form of garments; the process can be used to produce trouser creases, for example. The process consists in applying at least one compound having isocyanate groups to the fabric and pressing creases into the fabric under certain moisture and temperature conditions.

Processes for creasing moist wool fabrics

Highly effective agents for the water and oil repellent finishing of fibrous, in particular textile materials contain at least two components which are aqueous dispersions. One of the dispersions contains a copolymer of a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, vinyl chloride and a fluorine-free (meth)acrylate, and also ethoxylated alkylphenol. The other dispersion contains either a copolymer of a fluorine-containing acrylate, vinylidene chloride and a fluorine-free (meth)acrylate and also ethoxylated fatty acids or an oxime-blocked isocyanate, a fluorine-containing oligo- or polyurethane and also an ethoxylated fatty amine (salt). The agents lead to a pleasantly soft handle on the finished textile material and in many cases reduce the bleeding of dyed textiles.

Modified polyurethanes containing perfluoroaliphatic groups which are obtained by reacting oligo(poly)urethanes containing free hydroxyl or isocyanate groups and perfluoroaliphatic groups with di/polyfunctional polysiloxanes at elevated temperatures with conversion of all the reactive groups of the urethane are used for the oil- and water-repellent finishing of fiber materials, conferring on these materials thus treated not only laundering- and drycleaning-stable effects but also in particular a very soft, full hand of very good surface smoothness, these excellent hand effects being further optimized by the addition of a polyethylene dispersion and/or of further customary textile assistants, in particular water-repellent fluorocarbon compounds.

An aqueous textile treatment agent is based on 1,3-dialkyl-4,5-dihydroxy-imidazolidinones and selected polyhydric alcohols, in particular 1,6-hexanediol or 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)-ethane and is used for the formaldehyde-free finishing of textile material which consists at least partly of cellulose or regenerated cellulose fibers in order to confer crease and shrink resistance thereon, the textile material so treated being notable for appreciably improved whiteness, compared with the prior art, as well as good crease and shrink resistance.

Aqueous textile treatment agent and crease resist finishing of textile

An aqueous textile treatment agent is based on 1,3-dialkyl-4,5-dihydroxy-imidazolidinones and 1,1,1-trimethylolpropane (TMP) and is used for the formaldehyde-free finishing of textile material which consists at least partly of cellulose or regenerated cellulose fibers in order to confer crease and shrink resistance thereon, the textile material so treated being notable for appreciably improved whiteness, compared with the prior art, as well as good crease and shrink resistance.

An aqueous medium containing reactive polymers, the reactive groups being N-methylol and/or etherified N-methylol groups, preferably based on methylolated, etherified or not, unsaturated carboxylic acid amides, included by polymerization, the portion of said reactive monomers being preferably 2.5 to 20% by weight, related to the total weight of the polymers, is applied to textiles by impregnation or preferably by coating in the presence of silanes and/or siloxanes containing amino groups and organometallic compounds, preferably zinc soaps and/or dialkyl-tin dicarboxylates as hardening agents, and heated at elevated temperature. A waterproof and water-repellent finish is obtained, resistant to washing and dry cleaning.

Process for treating textiles with reactive polymers

This invention relates to a process for making textiles containing cellulose crease-resistant. The process of the invention involves contacting the textile with an aqueous treatment bath to which alkali chlorides or bromides of sodium and potassium have been added and which contains 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxyethylene urea, the hydroxyl and methylol groups of which can optionally be partially or completely etherified with low, monohydric aliphatic alcohols with 1 to 3 carbon atoms and potential acid catalysts. It is possible for the treatment bath to contain in addition other precondensates normally used in the treatment of textiles provided at least 40% by weight based on the weight of the sum of the N-methylol derivatives calculated as anhydrous substances is the optionally etherified 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxyethylene urea. 1 to 12% by weight of the alkali metal chloride or a bromide of sodium and potassium based on the weight of the N-methylol derivatives calculated as anhydrous substances are employed in the treatment bath. After contacting the textile with the bath it is dried and heated to cure the resin and/or crosslink it with the fibre.
