A bearing providing a plurality of rolling elements and at least one raceway for the rolling elements. The at least one raceway or the rolling elements include a tungsten carbide coating. In some embodiments, the tungsten carbide coating may be a Nano-structured tungsten carbide coating. In some embodiments, the at least one raceway or the rolling elements may comprise a steel substrate covered with the tungsten carbide coating. Embodiments also relate to a method for producing a bearing. The method includes coating a plurality of rolling elements or at least one raceway for the rolling elements with a tungsten carbide coating. In some embodiments, the tungsten carbide coating may be a Nano-structured tungsten carbide coating.

Coated surfaces for bearings used in drilling motors

A sensor bearing assembly for supporting a rotatable shaft includes a bearing having an inner ring disposable about the shaft, an outer ring disposed about the inner ring, and rolling elements between the rings. An annular detection member is coupled with the bearing inner ring and has an outer circumferential surface and a circular cover is configured to enclose the axial end of the shaft when the bearing assembly is mounted on the shaft. The cover includes a rim coupled with the bearing outer ring, a radially-extending end wall spaced axially from the shaft end, and an annular side wall extending axially between the end wall and the rim. A sensor is mounted to the cover side wall, has an inner end spaced radially outwardly from the detection member outer circumferential surface, and is configured to sense angular displacement of the detection member about the shaft central axis.

A sensor bearing assembly rotatably couples a pulley sheave with a shaft and includes an inner member with a central bore receiving a portion of the shaft, two axially spaced inner raceway surfaces and a central portion between the raceways. An outer member is disposed about the inner member and disposeable within the sheave bore to rotatably couple the sheave with the shaft. The outer member has two axially spaced outer raceway surfaces disposed about the two inner raceway surfaces and a central portion between the outer raceways and disposed about inner member central portion to define an annular cavity. An annular detection member is disposed within the annular cavity and coupled with the outer member and a sensor is disposed within the annular detection member and connected with the inner member central portion. The sensor is configured to sense angular displacement of the detection member about the bearing axis.
