A blood sampler, especially for drawing samples of arterial blood, is provided with a handle, and a needle adapter to which a puncturing needle is attachable, and a sample capillary connected with the puncturing needle. For robust and cheap manufacture handle and sample capillary are blow-molded to form a single unit and the needle adapter is either molded integral therewith or configured as a separate component, which is insertable into an opening in the handle leading into the sample capillary.

Blood sampler

A reagent bottle suitable for insertion into a sample analyzer features a sample discharge opening plugged by an elastic, pierceable stopper, and an air inlet. Both the sample discharge opening and the air inlet are located on the same side of the reagent bottle, the axes of the two openings running parallel to each other, such that both openings can be docked onto corresponding sampling and air inlet elements of the analyzer in one and the same working process when the reagent bottle is inserted into the analyzer. The elastic stopper is covered on its outside by a protective foil and has a recess at a puncturing site enabling the sampling element to puncture the foil more easily. Bordering on the recess of the stopper is an area which is prepunctured but offers a tight elastic seal.

Electromagnetic actuating device, in particular for a valve, includes a plunger which is axially movable between two extreme positions, an electromagnetic coil surrounding the plunger actuating it, and a permanent magnet holding the plunger in one of its extreme positions, and at least one pole plate located between plunger and permanent magnet. The holding force of the permanent magnet is considerably increased by providing that the permanent magnet, which is configured as a flat disk, be completely covered by the pole plate on the side facing the plunger.

Electromagnetic actuating device, in particular for a valve

A fluid-tight connection of capillary channels in components which are detachable from each other is established with the use of a sealing element. In order to compensate for slight deviations between the channel axes during the coupling of the components without creating any dead spaces, the sealing element is configured as a piece of flexible tubing adapting to the course of the capillary channels during component coupling, and a mounting element anchored in one of the components.

A feeder unit, which is used for selectively charging an analyzing apparatus with liquid or gaseous sample-, reference- or cleaning media, comprises a sample inlet and a feeder part hinged on the feeder unit at one end. The feeder part contains an intake passage for the cleaning medium to be entered, the sample inlet having a flexible feeder funnel cooperating with a washing element which is attached to the feeder part and can be introduced into the funnel. The feeder part is configured as a cover flap swinging around a fixed pin. The intake passage for the cleaning medium opens into the washing element and is also used for delivering liquid and gaseous reference media. The washing element is located on a support which is elastically attached to the cover flap, and fits into the flexible funnel when the cover flap is closed.

A two-channel sampling needle is designed for withdrawing body fluids, such as blood or tissue fluid, has two essentially parallel cannulas, the first cannula being provided with an insertion needle which may be removed after the sampling needle has been introduced, its sharpened end projecting beyond the end of the first cannula. At the distal end of the sampling needle the second cannula has at least one connecting opening into the first cannula. A mounting part of the sampling needle is provided with fittings for the two cannulas and with a separate opening plugged by a flexible stopper for removal of the insertion needle.

Electromagnetically actuated valve, comprising an actuating device, a movable plunger and a valve chamber with an opening for the medium passing through it, which opening may be closed by the plunger. In order to ensure safe functioning of the valve at small closing forces, the valve chamber is totally sealed against the actuating device and the movable plunger by means of a flexible diaphragm, the diaphragm being fitted into the housing along its circumference and being pressed against the edge of the opening by the movable plunger.

In order to simplify manufacture of the interior electrode of a polarographic electrode with an electrically insulating shell containing a wire lead and carrying a reactive surface at its front end, which surface is formed by the free cross-sectional areas of wires arranged in the shell and in electrical contact with the wire lead, the wires and the site where they are connected to the wire lead are embedded in a plastic compound filling the front end of the shell.

In order to simplify the performance of serial measurements by means of a measuring device for determining chemical parameters of an aqueous sample, with at least one symmetrical, ion-sensitive membrane being located between the sample and an electrolytic medium and the sample and the electrolytic medium being in contact with reference electrodes connected to an evaluation unit, a measuring element is provided which can be inserted into a measuring device and which has a sample chamber connected with a reference chamber via a bore. At least one measuring chamber is provided, which is separated from the sample chamber by a symmetrical, ion-sensitive membrane. The reference chamber and all measuring chambers contain electrolytic media into which are dipped the reference electrodes located in the measuring device.

Measuring device for determining chemical parameters of an aqueous sample

In order to reduce the measuring volume in a device for measuring chemical and physical parameters of liquid or gaseous media by means of optical sensor elements whose optodes may be replaced easily, a measuring unit with a sample channel is provided which may be inserted into a supporting frame of the device and which may be connected to ingoing and outgoing sample lines via capillary bores. The measuring unit contains a sensor carrier forming the boundary of the sample channel on one side, which sensor carrier has bores holding the optodes. The indicator film of each individual optode is situated in the plane of the sensor carrier facing the sample channel.

In order to improve a one-way measuring element, which may be inserted into an analyzer for analyzing gaseous or liquid samples and which comprises a measuring channel with a measuring zone and one or more sensors located therein, the proposal is put forward that the one-way measuring element be provided with a sensor part whose measuring channel has seals on both ends, and with a sample-taking part, and that a coupling element be placed at the inlet end of the measuring channel for direct coupling of the sample-taking part containing the gaseous or liquid sample, and that the measuring channel be filled with a calibrating and storage medium prior to the measuring process, and that the calibrating and storage medium contained in the measuring channel be displaced by the sample flowing in after the sample-taking part has been coupled to the sensor part. The one-way measuring elements obtained in this way are characterized by great simplicity of design and ease of handling.

A feeding device with a feeder element for liquid or gaseous samples includes an automatic sample exchanger having sample vessels for the liquid or gaseous samples and openings between the sample vessels through which the feeder element is automatically shifted from the feed position for serial samples to an initial position in contact with a feed opening for calibrating or cleansing media.
