Various embodiments of a gas valve and a sear-zone gas burner are described and claimed herein. One embodiment described herein relates to a cooking chamber with a cooking surface, which has at least two portions including a first portion and a second portion. The first and second portions of the cooking surface each have at least one heat source disposed underneath. The at least one heat source for each cooking surface in turn has a highest setting such that a first maximum heat output is provided to the first portion of the cooking surface when set at the highest setting and a second maximum heat output is provided to the second portion of the cooking surface when set at highest setting, wherein the second maximum heat output provided to the second portion is greater than the first maximum heat output provided to the first portion of the cooking surface.

The present invention provides a cooking grate for use within a barbecue grill assembly. The cooking grate is located within a cooking chamber of the barbecue grill and adjacent the heat source. The cooking grate has an energy receptor portion and cooking members depending therefrom. The energy reception portion of the cooking grate receives energy from the heat source. The energy received by the energy reception portion of the cooking grate is then conducted through the cooking grate to cooking members to cook food thereon. The present invention also provides a grease control structure for the grate to assist in directing the flow of grease away from the burners.

The present invention provides a cooking grate for use within a barbecue grill assembly comprising a cooking chamber and a gas burner positioned in a lower portion of the cooking chamber. The grate has a plurality of elongated members defining a cooking surface and multiple openings. The grate further has a grease control assembly that is cooperatively positioned over a burner flame region to direct and control the flow of grease generated by cooking food on the grate. The grease control assembly has at least one rib group and at least one ledge. The rib group comprises a plurality of ribs, each rib having a first inclined surface and a second inclined surface. The grease control assembly also has an outer ridge and an inner ridge depending from a lower surface of the grate. With these structures, the grate prevents grease and byproducts from draining onto the burner flame region.

A portable outdoor fireplace is provided. The portable outdoor fireplace has a housing that supports a gas burner, typically for heat, and a separate ornamental flame. The outdoor fireplace also has a moveable hood. A gas shut-off valve is manipulated based on the position of the hood.

The present invention provides a burner tube. The burner tube has a proximal segment, a distal segment, a terminal end, and a plurality of fuel outlet ports. The proximal segment has a union region and is adapted to be connected to a fuel source. The terminal end of the burner tube is connected to the union region such that the terminal end is in fluid communication with the union region. The connection between the terminal end and union region forms a continuous burner tube, or a burner loop for the flow of fuel. An initial flow of fuel diverges in the union region into a first portion and a second portion. The first portion flows through the union region and downstream through the distal segment. The second portion of fuel from the fuel source flows through the union region and downstream through the terminal end.
