A roll support frame without housing for pairs of rolls is supported on two sides in bearing chocks, wherein the roll support frame can be moved into and out of a unilaterally open housing which contains the drive transmission and adjusting devices for the rolls. The roll support frame is composed of a box-shaped element with entry and exit passages, guides for the rolling stock and support and guide elements arranged at the box-shaped element for the bearing chock pairs of each of the two rolls.

A hook conveyor moves a succession of coils having outer turns through a trimming station in a transport direction with each coil lying at the station in a plane generally parallel to the direction. A trimming apparatus has a pair of supports flanking the conveyor at the station and each movable between outer and inner positions, respective guides on the supports defining respective vertical guide planes generally parallel to the direction, and respective shears movable on the guides long the respective guide planes. Respective actuators displace the shears along the respective planes and, in the inner positions of the respective supports, cut the outer turns from a coil in the station. Respective separating wedges are displaceable on the guides generally radially of the coil in the station to separate the respective outer turns from the coil. Furthermore respective stripper rods carried on the supports are each displaceable between upper and inner positions engaging the coil in the station and lower and outer positions so that the rods pull the cut outer turns from the coil in the station on displacement from the respective inner to outer positions. These rods have hooked inner ends.

A method of rolling a bar-shaped stock to predetermined end height and end width measured transverse to the end height and including providing a rolling will train having a plurality of arranged one after another active rolling mill stands having adjustable roll rips and forming rolling mill stand pairs, providing a respective plurality of hydraulic cylinder units for adjusting the roll rips of respective rolling mil stands, rolling the bar-shaped stock through the rolling mill stands, and compensating at least a fraction, individually for each of the plurality of rolling mill stands, of rolling force-caused spring-offs of the respective rolling mill stands by controlling operations of respective hydraulic cylinder units.

Method of and rolling mill train for producing bar-shaped rolled products

An apparatus for braking the travel on oncoming rolled products and depositing the rolled products on a cooling bed or other collector as a support frame extending in the direction of travel of the rolled workpieces and an array of profile braked members which can be U-shaped and open toward brake surfaces on the support frame. The U-shaped brake members are pressed against the workpiece to clamp it against the braking surface. The brake members can be swung pendulum fashion so that angled legs beneath the workpieces can be swung away to allow them to drop on the cooling bed or other collector.
