A device is provided for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), in particular in diesel engines, from the exhaust gas tract into the fresh air path of the engine, wherein a cooling device connected to the cooling system of the engine is provided within an EGR section as an exhaust-gas (EG)/coolant heat exchanger, with which an EGR valve for proportioning the EG recirculation rate is associated. The EGR valve is connected to a coolant, and the cooling device comprises an EG pre-cooler and an EG main cooler connected downstream of the EG pre-cooler. The EGR valve is installed between the EG pre-cooler and the EG main cooler in a valve housing between the EG pre-cooler and the EG main cooler. A method for EGR is provided as well.

Piston unit

An air cooled internal combustion engine with a crankshaft that rotates about a vertical axis is provided. The engine may be a single cylinder diesel motor. The internal combustion engine includes an encapsulation which surrounds a plurality of cooling air channels. A flywheel is positioned at the top end of the crankshaft and is combined with a radial blower. An air distribution housing, which is joined to a top front wall of the crank case, forms a pressure chamber of the radial blower. At least two substreams of cooling air branch off from the pressure chamber. A first substream is guided through the housing encapsulation, which surrounds the cylinder and the cylinder head. A second substream is guided in a lining on the outside of the sidewall of the crankcase and the oil pan facing the cylinder. Both substreams are collected on the downstream side and exit through a common air-extractor shaft.

A particularly reasonably priced cylinder liner (1) for combustion engines, especially for one-cylinder diesel engines with a cylinder (2) cast on the crankcase, is produced from steel by deep drawing or deformation by compression and inserted with a tight sliding fit into the cylinder bore (12).

A silencer for a single-cylinder diesel engine has a housing with an exhaust fume inlet at the side of the cylinder head and an outlet (2) to which is associated a baffle plate (5) mounted so as to vibrate and whose surface corresponds to at least the cross-section of the outlet (2). The baffle plate (5) is secured to the free end of a leaf spring whose other end is linked to the housing (1) of the silencer.

A rewind or recoil starter for an internal combustion engine which is adapted to be coupled to the engine element to be started, and which is returned to its resting position by a rewind or recoil device after manual operation of its actuating structure and after the engine has started. A safety device in the starter is provided which, in the event of an unsuccessful starting operation and upon kick-back of the engine element against the starting direction, uncouples the actuating structure of the starter from the back-kicking engine element. The starter is equipped with a driven member rigidly seated on the engine element to be started, and with a driving member which, during starting, is driven by way of the actuating structure to drive the engine element in the starting direction. The safety device includes a fixedly mounted, spring-loaded decoupler pawl which does not affect the driving engagement between the driven member and the manually operated driving member when the elements of the starter are in their resting positions and during their starting movement, whereas, upon kick-back of the engine element to be started, the decoupler pawl is brought into a decoupling position by an element which then kicks back, and thereby releases the driving engagement.

Starter having a manual drive for internal combustion engines

A device for manually starting an internal combustion engine includes a rotatably supported shaft, a hand crank, and a safety mechanism operatively coupling the hand crank and shaft and adapted to interrupt the transmission of power therebetween in the event the engine produces a kickback of the shaft. The device includes a closed casing which is filled with a frost-proof lubricant such as lubricating grease, the safety mechanism being provided in the closed casing.
