In a rolling bearing for longitudinal movement with respect to a shaft, the rolling elements have longitudinal cross sections with concave central sections adapted to engage a cylindrical machine element, and shaped ends adapted to roll on a support surface of the machine element. The bearing includes a shell structure for guiding the rolling elements to follow continuous pathways. Each pair of adjacent rolling elements are separated from contact with one another by a separating roller having a convex longitudinal cross section which engages the concave portions of the rolling elements with line contact.

Rolling bearing for relative linear movement on a shaft

In a clutch release device, a clutch release lever engages one ring of a clutch release bearing, and the bearing ring and release lever are formed to inhibit relative rotation therebetween. For this purpose, the bearing ring may have a polygonal outer surface, in which case the release lever may have parallel flanges between which opposite parallel surfaces of the polygonal section of the bearing ring may be inserted. Alternatively, the release lever may have a wedge shaped portion adapted to engage a braking surface of the bearing ring, formed of a plastic material. In a further modification, the bearing rings have grooves or corrugations in a radially extending surface and adapted to be engaged by one or more projections on the clutch release lever.

Clutch release device

In a rolling bearing for linear movement with respect to a shaft, the bearing has a sleeve, and axially extending guide rails on the inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve. Rolling elements are guided by the guide rails, and have concave spool-like central portions matched to the shaft, to provide linear contact therewith. The ends of the rolling elements are convexly curved to match the curvature of the inner surface of the sleeve, so that the inner surface of the sleeve forms a raceway for rolling elements under load. Grooves are provided in the lateral surfaces of the guide rails for guiding balls disposed between the ends of adjacent rolling elements. End caps on the bearing have turn-around guides for directing rolling elements between the inner raceways and the raceways for unloaded rolling elements along the outer surfaces of the sleeve.

A clutch release device for use with a thrust bearing has a sliding sleeve formed as a cylinder with a flange extending radially outward, and a transition shoulder between the cylinder and flange; a radially extending reference plane extends through said shoulder, and said flange has portions thereof displaced axially, with said reference plane being equidistant from said flange and said displaced portions.

A clutch release device, particularly for motor vehicles, with a self-centering clutch thrust bearing, having a fixed bearing ring, and which is located with radial play with respect to a bearing support, and which has; a sliding sleeve forming the bearing support, an additional sleeve connected to the sliding sleeve, the fixed bearing ring nonrotatingly contacting a contact surface of the additional sleeve, means preventing the fixed bearing from rotating on the additional sleeve, the additional sleeve, at the area of contact with the contact surface, being offset in a direction toward the clutch thrust bearing, the additional sleeve, in the offset, having at least two diametrically opposed recesses for engaging fixed means located on the periphery of the fixed bearing ring for protecting the clutch release bearing from rotation with respect to the bearing support.

A siding collar is provided for a fork-activated coupling clutch release bearing, including a collar body with a cast-in wear-resistant disc formed on a radial flange. A plurality of contact zones on one side of the disc contact the fork. On the bearing side of the disc the nonrotating bearing ring contacts the disc, the disc having a plurality of guide zones running essentially axially along the edge, with means for securing this bearing ring to the collar having guide zones for holding this bearing ring on the sliding collar against rotation on the sliding collar.

An axially movable ball bearing includes a cage having a plurality of circumferentially distributed guideways, each guideway including first and second axially extending channels joined at their ends by semi-circular sections. A plurality of balls are provided in each of the guideways. The first channels are open radially inwardly so that the balls therein may engage a shaft along which the bearing is adapted to move. A thin-walled metal housing is tightly fitted over the cage, and has bridge sections aligned with the first channels. The bridge sections have on their radially inner surfaces, guide courses for engaging the balls in the first channels. The housing is slotted between the bridge sections, so that the second channels project radially outwardly between the bridge sections. The bridge sections are joined together at each axial end of the bearing by end rings. The metal housing has a greater hardness in the region of the courses of the bridge sections than in the other regions thereof.

An improved self-centering clutch thrust bearing is described which includes a rolling bearing assembly and a sleeve bearing. The sleeve bearing and rolling bearing assembly each include radially extending flanges and means are provided for captivating the flanges in an axial direction while allowing limited play in a radial direction. An annular collar and an annular disc are also provided and are positioned for enabling a limited relative motion in a radial direction between the bearing assembly and the sleeve bearing.

Self-centering clutch thrust bearing

A thrust ball bearing has an outer cup-shaped ring and an inner cup-shaped ring. A ball bearing assembly of a plurality of balls and a cage is arranged between the closed ends of the bearing rings. The closed bottom of the outer ring is curved, with the center of curvature being on the side thereof toward the bearing assembly. The bearing rings have thin walls, and the thrust ball bearing is particularly adaptable for use as a clutch throw-out bearing.

Thrust ball bearing

A clutch bearing assembly has inner and outer rings defining a race for ball bearings. The outer ring is adapted to engage a clutch lever, and the inner ring is adapted to be a stationary ring. A sliding sleeve for the assembly is coupled to the inner ring by deformable elements positively affixed to one of these members. The deformable elements may be wire bights having their ends axially inserted in grooves in the inner ring and sliding sleeve. Alternatively, the deformable element may be a spiral spring radially engaging an axial extension of the inner ring and having ends inserted in axially extending holes in the sliding sleeve.

Self-centering clutch bearing

A ball bearing has an inner ring and an outer ring defining inner and outer races respectively. A row of balls is provided between the races, and a cage holds the balls spaced apart from one another. The compartments of the cage are staggered alternately, so that adjacent balls engage opposite regions of the races to inhibit axial play.

A guide bearing for use in motor vehicles, for guiding a power take-off shaft from a clutch disengaging bearing through the borehole formed in a gear box wall. The guide bearing, at the end intended to be fastened to the gear box borehole, carries, within the guide bearing borehole, the outer rolling path for the gear bearing that supports the power take-off shaft of the disengaging clutch in the gear box. On the casing, the guide bearing carries the seating for its attachment in the borehole of the gear box.
