An energy storage assembly includes a vertical stack of substantially planar modules. Each module comprises a plurality of energy storage components and a thermally conductive shell comprising a shell top, a shell bottom, shell sides, a shell front, and a shell rear.

Modular battery system

A system that includes a wettable thermal insulator, a phase change material, and a flexible pouch. In the event a thermal event occurs, the phase change material changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. The flexible pouch is configured to envelope the wettable thermal insulator and the phase change material in the liquid state.

An energy storage system includes an energy storage component. It further includes heat generating electronics. It further includes a fluid circulator that transfers fluid between the energy storage component and the heat generating electronics. The circulator is controlled to alternatively transfer fluid from the battery to the heat generating electronics or from the heat generating electronics to the energy storage component based at least in part on a thermal state of the energy storage system.

Electromechanical connector

The present invention includes methods of manufacturing a metal infused graphitic material. Also described is how this device may be rendered impermeable. The present invention includes the electroplating/electroless deposition of metal on exposed internal and external surfaces of a porous graphitic substrate. The deposition of metal on the internal structure is accomplished by replacing the void space in the porous substrate with an electrolyte solution containing dissolved metallic species. The plating is initiated either through electrochemical means, electroless means, chemical vapor deposition means, or other means obvious to one familiar in the art of metal plating. A post-deposition bath is also described wherein the plating may be removed from one or both sides of the external surface without impacting the internal pore plating.
