A direct AC to AC converter includes a modulation stage, a transformer and a de-modulation stage. The modulation stage is configured to convert an AC input voltage with a first frequency into a bipolar PWM voltage with a second frequency, wherein the second frequency is higher than the first frequency. The transformer has a primary winding and secondary winding, wherein the primary winding is coupled to the modulation stage to receive the bipolar PWM voltage. The de-modulation stage is coupled to the secondary winding of the transformer and configured to convert the voltage across the secondary winding of the transformer into an AC output voltage with the first frequency.

A method for automatically testing a voltage regulator, including: providing an auto-test setting to a test master, wherein the auto-test setting specifies an auto-sweep setting and a loop comprising an ordered set of serial command frames; producing, in the test master, a test suite comprising a plurality of serial command frames by executing the loop multiple times according to the auto-sweep setting until an array of a preset variable corresponding to the auto-sweep setting is traversed, wherein the preset variable is changed in each iteration of the loop; sequentially transmitting every serial command frame to the voltage regulator; and receiving every resulting behavior of the voltage regulator when operated in accordance with the every serial command frame.

System and method for automatically testing voltage regulators

An electrical circuit has a first integrated AC switch circuit connecting a first load to an AC voltage when the first integrated AC switch circuit is ON and a second integrated AC switch circuit connecting a second load to the AC voltage when the second integrated AC switch circuit is ON. The first integrated AC switch circuit generates a first DC voltage across a first capacitor and provides a pulse signal. When a VCCE pin of the second integrated AC switch circuit is coupled to a reference ground, a second capacitor is charged by the second integrated AC switch circuit to provide a second DC voltage. And when the VCCE pin of the second integrated AC switch circuit is floating or pulls high, the second capacitor is charged by the pulse signal.

An AC switch circuit coupled between an AC input signal and an AC load has a first switch, a second switch, a driving circuit, and a power generation circuit. The first switch blocks a first half-cycle of the AC input signal when turned OFF, and the second switch blocks a second half-cycle of the AC input signal when turned OFF. The driving circuit provides a driving signal to control the first switch and the second switch based on an enable signal. The power generation circuit provides a voltage signal to power the driving circuit. The power generation circuit stores energy from the AC input signal when the first switch and the second switch are turned OFF, and the power generation circuit is disconnected from the AC input signal when the first switch and the second switch are turned ON.

AC switch circuit and associated control method

A computer provides a graphical user interface for displaying a virtual representation of a voltage regulator and for accepting a user requirement for the voltage regulator. The computer automatically determines an internal calibration setting of the voltage regulator that meets the user requirement. The computer simulates operation of the voltage regulator as calibrated with the internal calibration setting. The internal calibration setting is downloaded to the voltage regulator. A calibration controller of the voltage regulator receives the internal calibration setting and outputs digital calibration bits in accordance with the internal calibration setting. The digital calibration bits works in conjunction with interface circuits to adjust circuits of a voltage regulator core to digitally calibrate the voltage regulator.

A method of capacitive mode detection is used in a resonant converter. The resonant converter has a square wave generator having a first switch and a second switch, a resonant network, an isolated transformer having a primary winding and a second winding, and a rectifier network providing an output DC voltage for a load. The method of capacitive mode detection includes: detecting a voltage of the secondary winding and generating a voltage detection signal; detecting an output DC voltage of the rectifier network and generating a voltage detecting threshold; comparing the voltage detection signal with the voltage detection threshold when either of the first and the second switches is turned OFF; generating a flag signal indicating whether the resonant converter enters into a capacitive mode based on the comparison result.
