A method of positioning a main stent at a vessel bifurcation includes positioning a main guidewire in the main vessel; and advancing a stent delivery system to a position proximate the bifurcation. The stent delivery system includes a catheter with a flexible side sheath attached thereto and a main stent positioned over the catheter. The flexible side sheath is positioned to pass through the side opening in the main stent. The method also includes advancing a branch guidewire through the flexible side sheath and into the branch vessel; and subsequently, advancing the catheter over the main guidewire while advancing the flexible side sheath over the branch guidewire while viewing relative movement of a marker positioned on the flexible side sheath with respect to at least one marker positioned on the catheter.

A method for forming a disposable dental valve device is disclosed which comprises the steps of injecting a resin into a mold with the melt temperature of the resin being about 201&#xb0; C. and the mold temperature being about 35&#xb0; C., filling the resin in the mold for a fill time of about 0.70 seconds, providing a peak first stage fill pressure of about 61.9 Mpa, providing a pack pressure of about 49.5 Mpa, and providing a pack time of about 5 seconds.

A disposable dental valve device is disclosed which comprises a valve body having a tip receiving end, a hose receiving end, a lumen formed between the tip receiving end and the hose receiving end, and a partial opening formed in the valve body, and a rotatable valve sealing body adapted to being inserted into the partial opening, the rotatable valve sealing body having a bore for alignment with the lumen formed between the tip receiving end and the hose receiving end, the rotatable valve body having a top and a handle portion connected to the top.

An apparatus for treatment of a bifurcation of a body lumen, the bifurcation having a main vessel and a branch vessel, the apparatus includes a bifurcated balloon with a first branch portion and a second branch portion, the second branch portion including an inflatable portion adapted to extend toward the branch vessel, the bifurcated balloon also having a proximal shaft portion and a distal shaft portion connected to the inflatable portion of the second branch portion, and wherein the first branch portion and the second branch portion each have a longitudinal axis, the axis of the first branch portion being substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the second branch portion.

Catheter balloon systems and methods

A dual guidewire exchange catheter system and methods are provided herein. The dual guidewire exchange catheter system includes two lumens for receiving therethrough a main vessel guidewire and a branch vessel guidewire, respectively. The catheter includes an exit port for each guidewire, at least one of which is a shorter distance from the distal end of the catheter system than the distance from the distal end to the proximal end of the catheter. This allows for management of relatively short guidewire lengths outside the body.

The present invention is directed to a stent for use in a bifurcated body lumen having a main branch and a side branch. The stent comprises a radially expandable generally tubular stent body having proximal and distal opposing ends with a body wall having a surface extending therebetween. The surface has a geometrical configuration defining a first pattern, and the first pattern has first pattern struts and connectors arranged in a predetermined configuration. The stent also comprises a branch portion comprised of a second pattern, wherein the branch portion is at least partially detachable from the stent body.

The present invention concerns novel stent apparatuses for use in treating lesions at or near the bifurcation point in bifurcated cardiac, coronary, renal, peripheral vascular, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, urinary and neurovascular vessels and brain vessels. More particularly, the invention concerns a stent apparatus with at least one side opening which may further comprise an extendable stent portion laterally extending from the side opening and at least partly in registry with the wall of the side opening. Devices constructed in accordance with the invention include, singularly or in combination, a main expandable stent comprising at least one substantially circular side opening located between its proximal and distal end openings, which side opening may further comprise an expandable portion extending radially outward from the edges of the side opening; and a branch stent comprising proximal and distal end openings and which may further comprise a contacting portion at its proximal end, and which may optionally be constructed to form either a perpendicular branch or a non-perpendicular branch when inserted through a side opening of the main stent. The stents of the invention are marked with, or at least partially constructed of, a material which is imagable during intraluminal catheterization techniques, most preferably but not limited to ultrasound and x-ray.

Method of using a catheter with attached flexible side sheath

In at least one embodiment, a stent comprises a plurality of interconnected framework members defining a plurality of cells. A portion of the interconnected framework members comprise a side branch structure defining an inner side branch cell that is shaped differently from other cells of the stent. The side branch structure comprises a serpentine ring that extends around the inner side branch cell. The serpentine ring comprises alternating struts and turns. The turns comprise alternating inner turns and outer turns, and the inner turns comprise alternating first inner turns and second inner turns. The second inner turns are located farther away from a side branch center point than the first inner turns.

A stent for use in a bifurcated body lumen having a main branch and a side branch. The stent comprises a radially expandable generally tubular stent body having proximal and distal opposing ends with a body wall having a surface extending therebetween. The surface has a geometrical configuration defining a first pattern, and the first pattern has first pattern struts and connectors arranged in a predetermined configuration. The stent also comprises a branch portion comprised of a second pattern, wherein the branch portion is outwardly expandable from the stent body.

A catheter system comprises a catheter having a catheter body with a distal end, a proximal end, a main vessel guidewire lumen for receiving a main vessel guidewire and a balloon disposing at the distal end of the catheter body. The catheter further includes a side member that is disposed adjacent to the catheter body. The side member has a distal end, a proximal end, and a branch vessel guidewire lumen for receiving a branch vessel guidewire. A stent having a side hole is disposed over the balloon, and a distal portion of the side member is disposed beneath at least a portion of the stent while being adjacent to and movable with respect to the balloon.

Catheter with side sheath and methods

A system for delivering and positioning a stent within a bifurcated body lumen includes a stent delivery system including a catheter, an expansion device, and an ultrasound transducer. The ultrasound transducer is configured for transmitting and receiving signals and for imaging of a body lumen so as to locate an ostium of a branch vessel and facilitate alignment of the stent side hole with the ostium.

A method of performing a medical procedure on a living body is provided. The method comprises inserting a leading end portion of a guidewire into the living body and advancing a trailing end portion of the guidewire into a container, the container being arranged to coil the trailing end portion of the guidewire as the trailing end portion is advanced into the container. The invention extends to an advancing device operable to cause a trailing end portion of a guidewire to advance into a container. The advancing device comprises a body, an engaging mechanism on the body, the engaging mechanism being arranged releasably to engage the guidewire and to move relative to the body while engaging the guidewire thereby to cause the guidewire to advance through the body.
