A cable includes cable one or more conductors and a covering surrounding the one or more conductors. The covering is formed from a composition including polyethylene and a polyolefin elastomer, where the composition is crosslinked. A method of forming the cable is also provided.

A data cable can include a plurality of insulated conductors twisted into pairs, an intumescent tape surrounding one or more of the insulated conductors, and a jacket. Each of the plurality of insulated conductors includes a conductor and an insulation layer. Data cables being fluoropolymer-free or halogen free are also described herein.

Data cables having an intumescent tape

The present invention relates to cable covering compositions (insulation or jacket) for wires and cables that are fire and water resistant. Significantly, the composition contains no significant amount of lead, halogen, and antimony; and is flame retardant (UL 1685 Cable Tray burn test); and has excellent mechanical and water resistance properties. The covering composition contains (a) a polyolefin; (b) a maleic anhydride modified polyolefin; (c) a butadiene-styrene copolymer; (d) a non-halogen flame retardant; and (e) a silane compound.

Fire and water resistant cable cover

The present invention relates to lead-free, halogen-free, and antimony-free cables containing insulations made of (a) a polyolefin; (b) a maleic anhydride modified polyolefin; (c) a butadiene-styrene copolymer; (d) a non-halogen flame retardant; and (e) a silane compound. The cable contains a fire retardant tape between the conductor and the insulation when the insulation thickness is greater than about 75 mils for a 1/0 AWG cable.

Fire and water resistant cable

A jacket for an electrical conductor, which jacket includes from about 40% to about 50% by weight of a polyvinyl chloride resin and from about 0.1% to about 0.5% by weight of an unsaturated primary amide derived from erucic acid. The jacket may also include from about 20% to about 35% by weight of a filler; from about 20% to about 30% by weight of a phthalate-based plasticizer; and from about 0.5% to about 5% by weight of a lead-free heat-stabilizing system. Methods for manufacturing a lead-free NM jacket are also provided.

Non-lead jacket for non-metallic sheathed electrical cable

A non metallic (NM) jacket has from about 40% to about 50% by weight of a polyvinyl chloride resin; from about 20% to about 35% by weight of a filler; from about 0.1% to about 0.5% by weight of an unsaturated primary amide derived from erucic acid; from about 20% to about 30% by weight of a phthalate-based plasticizer; and from about 0.5% to about 5% by weight of a lead-free heat-stabilizing system; wherein 100% is the weight of the jacket. Methods for improving the slip characteristics of a lead-free NM jacket for an electrical conductor are also provided.

A fusible link wire for use in an electric circuit comprising a fusible conductor for opening the circuit in response to a given current level, an inner electrical insulation layer surrounding the fusible conductor, a braided sheath positioned over the inner electrical insulation layer for increasing the structural strength of the insulation layer and for holding the inner electrical insulation layer in place in the event of a failure, and an outer protective coating surrounding the sheath and the inner electrical insulation layer for holding the sheath in place during handling or processing of the fusible link wire and for providing protection against the environment.
