A colorless mux/demux cable assembly, including a first fiber optic cable, a second fiber optic cable, and a main body that includes an N:1 optical combiner and a 1:N optical splitter. The N:1 optical combiner is configured to combine individual optical signals received by each of N input fibers of the second fiber optic cable and provide a combined output signal to an output fiber of the first fiber optic cable. The 1:N optical splitter is configured to split a combined input optical signal (having N wavelength channels) received via an input fiber of the first fiber optic cable and provide a split output signal comprising each of the N wavelength channels to each of N output fibers of the second fiber optic cable.

Colorless splitter/combiner cable assembly

The present disclosure generally relates to devices, which may be used in communication or optoelectronic modules for example, suitable for arrayed positioning of a plurality of fiber optical components. In one form, an optoelectronic module includes a printed circuit board (PCB) and at least one optical component array device including an array of laterally or radially spaced receptacles configured to receive an optical component. One or more of the receptacles includes a fused fiber optical component positioned therein. A recursive fiber may extend between an output of a first fused fiber optical component and an input of a second fused fiber optical component, and an optical fiber routing member may be coupled to the PCB and include a plurality of guides extending away from the PCB and defining a pathway for routing optical fibers relative to the PCB.

Optical component array devices

In one form, an organizing member for optical components includes an elongate body extending about a hollow interior portion and including a peripheral sidewall. The organizing member also includes an optical fiber routing surface extending from the peripheral sidewall toward the hollow interior portion, and a recessed portion is positioned between the peripheral sidewall and the hollow interior portion. The recessed portion includes a number of receptacles offset from the optical fiber routing surface and corresponding in configuration to a respective optical component positionable therein.

Optical component organizing members

An optoelectronic module includes a housing and a printed circuit board ('PCB') positioned within the housing. A positioning member is coupled to the PCB and includes one or more receptacles each configured to receive and secure positioning of an optical component relative to the PCB. The positioning member may include a plurality of receptacles positioned relative to one another in an arrangement defining a vertical array of receptacles, a lateral array of receptacles, or both. In one form, an optical component, when positioned in a receptacle of the positioning member, is spaced from the PCB. The positioning member may be formed of a thermally insulative or thermally conductive material, and a number of optical fibers may be routed between the positioning member and the housing.

Organizer for fiber optic components

A housing for a pluggable module may include a first seating protrusion, a second seating protrusion, and a locking protrusion. The first seating protrusion may have a first seating surface facing a first direction. The second seating protrusion may have a second seating surface facing a second direction opposite the first direction. The second seating surface may be positioned parallel to the first seating surface. The second seating protrusion may be offset relative to the first seating surface in a direction parallel and a direction perpendicular to the first seating surface. The locking protrusion may have a locking surface facing the first direction. The locking surface may be positioned parallel to the first seating surface. The locking surface may be offset relative to the first seating surface in the direction perpendicular to the first seating surface.

Housing for pluggable module

A pluggable bidirectional optical amplifier module may include preamp and booster optical amplifiers and a housing. The preamp optical amplifier may be configured to amplify optical signals traveling in a first direction. The booster optical amplifier may be configured to amplify optical signals traveling in a second direction. The housing may at least partially enclose the preamp optical amplifier and the booster optical amplifier. The pluggable bidirectional optical amplifier module may have a mechanical form factor that is compliant with a pluggable communication module form factor MSA. A colorless mux/demux cable assembly may be operated with the pluggable bidirectional optical amplifier. The colorless mux/demux cable assembly may include a 1:N optical splitter a N:1 optical combiner coupled side-by-side to the 1:N optical splitter, a first fiber optic cable optic cable, and a second fiber optic cable.

Pluggable optical amplifier for datacenter interconnects

The present disclosure generally relates to devices, which may be used in communication or optoelectronic modules for example, suitable for arrayed positioning of a plurality of fiber optical components. In one form, an optoelectronic module includes a printed circuit board ('PCB'). The module also includes an optical component array device which includes an elongated support member and an array of fused fiber optical components positioned around and coupled with the elongated support member. A recursive fiber may extend between an output of a first fused fiber optical component and an input of a second fused fiber optical component, and an optical fiber routing member may be coupled to the PCB and include a plurality of guides extending away from the PCB and defining a pathway for routing optical fibers relative to the PCB.

Optical component arrays

A fiber-based optical amplifier is assembled in a compact configuration by utilizing a flexible substrate to support the amplifying fiber as flat coils that are 'spun' onto the substrate. The supporting structure for the amplifying fiber is configured to define the minimal acceptable bend radius for the fiber, as well as the maximum diameter that fits within the overall dimensions of the amplifier package. A pressure-sensitive adhesive coating is applied to the flexible substrate to hold the fiber in place. By using a flexible material with an acceptable insulative quality (such as a polyimide), further compactness in the final assembly is achieved by locating the electronics in a space underneath the fiber enclosure.

Compact optical fiber amplifier

An optical amplifier module is configured as a multi-stage free-space optics arrangement, including at least an input stage and an output stage. The actual amplification is provided by a separate fiber-based component coupled to the module. A propagating optical input signal and pump light are provided to the input stage, with the amplified optical signal exiting the output stage. The necessary operations performed on the signal within each stage are provided by directing free-space beams through discrete optical components. The utilization of discrete optical components and free-space beams significantly reduces the number of fiber splices and other types of coupling connections required in prior art amplifier modules, allowing for an automated process to create a 'pluggable' optical amplifier module of small form factor proportions.

An ejection system for engaging a transceiver to a host circuit board in a guide rail having a front and back orientation and for ejecting said transceiver from said guide rail, said system comprising: (a) a latching mechanism within said guide rail adapted for latching to a projection extending from a housing of a transceiver when said transceiver is moved backward on said guide rail to an engaging position, thereby preventing said transceiver from moving forward; (b) resilient means within said guide rail adapted for urging said transceiver forward when said transceiver is in said engaging position; and (c) a release mechanism within said card guide and adapted for disengaging said latching mechanism from said projection when said release mechanism is actuated to a releasing position, thereby allowing said resilient means to move said transceiver forward.

Transceiver housing and ejection mechanism therefore

The invention is an optical ADD/DROP filter suitable for dense wavelength division multiplexing/de-multiplexing. It comprises an optical bench having a longitudinal V-groove into which the optical components of the ADD/DROP filter are passively aligned and bonded. The bench further includes first and second pairs of opposed, spaced, vertical members at each end between which a fiber array block is inserted. In the method of constructing the ADD/DROP filter, an interference filter is bonded to a first collimating lens. Then, the first collimating lens with the interference filter attached thereto and a second collimating lens are placed in the V-groove of the bench where they are passively aligned. The two collimating lenses are then bonded to the bench. Fiber array substrates are inserted between the pairs of opposed, spaced, vertical members and a UV transparent block is inserted on top of each fiber array between the corresponding pair of opposed, spaced, vertical members. The fiber arrays are actively aligned. After proper alignment is achieved, adhesive is wicked into the spaces between the fiber array, the block and the vertical members. The adhesive is then cured.

Optical ADD/DROP filter and method of making same

A low profile switch having a receptacle assembly and a plug assembly mounted to surfaces which are movable with respect to each other. The receptacle assembly includes a housing with a defined recess into which extend a pair of contact members resiliently biased into engagement with each other. The plug assembly includes a housing having an elongated extension with a pair of contact members disposed on opposed sides thereof so that the extension can be moved into the recess of the receptacle assembly, separate the contact members of the receptacle assembly, and engage the contact member of the receptacle assembly with respective ones of the contact members of the plug assembly. Thus, when the receptacle and plug assemblies are unmated, the receptacle assembly provides a shunted circuit condition and when the receptacle and plug assemblies are mated, two circuit paths are established between the receptacle and plug assemblies.

Low profile switch assembly

A connector (10) to connect electrical leads to an inner tube (12) and a spaced apart outer tube (14). A body (16) having a center bore (20) is disposed in an opening (26) in the outer tube (14) and is secured to the outer tube (14) with the body (16) extending outwardly. An adapter (48) is disposed in the bore (20) in the body (16). A coaxially mounted conductor (52) is retractably disposed in the adapter (48). The conductor (52) is electrically insulated from the adapter (48). The conductor (52) has an end (54) which makes electrical contact with the inner tube (12). Electrical leads are attached to the body (16) and to the conductor (52).

Coaxial connector for concentric cylindrical tubes

A connector (10) for interconnecting a daughter card to a mother board using a flexible circuit element (64) joining the connector contacts (54) to the daughter card traces (76), while pin sections (56) of the contacts depend from the connector for insertion into mother board through-holes. A plate (82) of dielectric material is placed atop the terminations of the flexible circuit element to the contacts, with plate apertures (86) receiving the upper contact sections (66) and solder terminations thereinto, with potting compound (98) then placed in the apertures embedding and sealing the terminations, whereafter the plate provides enhanced strain relief.
